  2. Everyone talk about Canada joining the EU, i’d like to at least join the Schengen.

Give yourself at least 2hrs at airport for a connecting flight for customs. Thats what I learned about Schengen

One day, and that day may never come, the EU will grant mercy upon the Western Balkan countries so that they too may journey as true Europeans. Or at least not block the truck drivers.

For citizens of most of the developed countries, this is not a problem since their passport allows visa free travel to both Continental Europe and British Isles. But people visiting or living in one of the Schengen countries who don’t get visa free travel to Ireland and the UK, this matters.

Tourists or residents of a Schengen country are free to travel to another Schengen country. However they might not want to go to Ireland or the UK because they will need to apply for another visa to go there. This could not just mean lost revenue from Tourism but also harm business.

I personally know some colleagues in my company (based in a Schengen country) who don’t want to travel to the UK because they need a visa to visit the UK and they don’t want to bother about it (you need to visit the visa center which is on the other side of the country). As a result, someone else goes to the UK who doesn’t need a visa to visit there. But that means the right person doesn’t go there. Sometimes, no one goes to the UK and we do it online, postpone it or even cancel the programme. Especially nowadays where you have so many non-EU workers in Europe, I can see this problem will only get bigger.
