Actually, that’s probably a good thing for Orbán, too.

He has certainly stashed away enough money over the past 16 years to ensure that he and the next three generations can live in luxury. He remained a loyal servant of Putin right to the end and has now been granted an elegant exit from the clutches of his master.

It could also have become significantly more dangerous for Orbán if Putin’s empire were to collapse in two or three years’ time and the Hungarian people, the people of Ukraine and the EU were then to remember whom Orbán had served.

It was no different after the Second World War, when supporters of Hitler had to fear for their safety in their own countries following Germany’s defeat.

I don’t have high stakes on Hungary tbh. Good luck but they have a long way to repair their Trojan horse image. It’s nonetheless an optimistic day to be European

I’m intentionally not following this election so that my hopes don’t get crushed if Orban pulls off a comeback.

Orban wasn’t clever enough to lock up his opponent, just like Erdoğan did. Rookie dictator mistake.

  6. One thing I don’t get: for what I’ve read, Magyar was formerly in Orban’s party. I’m assuming that his ideas are a bit more open (EU speaking) but isn’t him quite similar in the rest of things knowing where is he coming from?

I like how the sh*t stain colored orange is receding in favor of European blue. Very appropriate party colors.

I can’t wait to see what Hungary will do with our right-wing politician who’s being wanted with European Arrest Warrant and he got a place thanks to Órban (Marcin Romanowski), the same with Ziobro who doesn’t have the European Arrest Warrant **yet** 🤣

Im also just happy, though. Not being a Russian puppet anymore and more European funds will boost the development, while there is a huge regress, actually.

  9. Please let them do the right things with this majority!!! Don’t let us down Hungary.

I will definitely stay away from the orange regions if I end up going to Hungary.

  11. Imagine losing an election this badly when you control all the media in your country, what a loser Orban is

this kind of stuff always makes me realize how little I actually understand about what’s going on… I remember confidently explaining something like this to a friend once and later finding out I completely misunderstood it 😭 now I catch myself wondering how often I still think I “get it” when I really don’t

  13. Its weird seeing people blame this all on JD Vance, as if Hungarians are that stupid to change their vote based on JD vance his visit, not because they are done with Orban. Its disrespectfull and absurd people are saying that shit, indirectly saying all Hungarians are stupid. Get out of here with your hate speech.

  14. This would technically allow them to revert Fidesz’s constitutional changes and restore multiparty democracy and the rule of law. They won’t though: TISZA is ideologically identical to Fidesz.

Somehow, every single party represented in the Hungarian parliament is right-wing. There is a complete and utter lack of leftists or moderates. It’s insane.

  15. I find it very interesting that all 3 parties that got seats are right wing parties.
