  1. I was reading on Insta that they’ve even brought up 150 bus drivers and busses from Victoria and NSW for the next couple of weeks.

I randomly follow one of the bus drivers on social media who has being very excited about the adventure.

I’ve been in line for half n hour watching 3 buses get full from this line. One is coming at a time with about 10 mins or so between each. Why is there not several at once? A lot more buses are needed if they’re going to close tracks. This will be a 1.5 hour commute for me each way down from my home in Sandgate to Bowen hills and back making my day at work 3 hours longer.

  3. This would never have been a problem on the Island of Sodor. The fat controller would have sent those engines out hail, rain or shine.

I mean good luck getting across cut rail, the real problem is the lack of organising public transport for the planned closures, one bus is not equivalent to one train.

At the other end, 3 rocked up to Geebung at once and they had us all running between busses then stopped some from getting on, so those in the middle of the line missed out. I went off at them, hardly any of the people there could speak a word of English.

How many of these patrons could WFH if their employer brought themselves out from the dark ages?

Been like this for the last week. Track works been planned for a while but the fuel issues have just meant the number of people on the train had doubled.

the whole network is still BS… I’m bussing it in from Doomben… although I may walk to Southbank for the rest of the week. Fuck this shit

Careful. I’ve said it before there’s some people in here who get awfully offended if you insult Queensland rail in here.

“WhAt dO yOU WANt ThEm tO dO?” Is my favorite response.

Oh I dunno. Be competent and realize that more than people with families have jobs during school holidays? And oh I dunno, from the multiple issues they’ve had the last few times when the lines are down, learn from them and be better prepared. Be preactive and not reactive.

Its a shit show since they screwed up the planning. From Today Redcliffe and Caboolture lines were originally going to running as normal. So fewer buses needed this week.

Then out of nowhere they decided to extend the work on those lines for 3 more days. Due to that they had to reshuffle everything and it seems they failed.

At Geebung and the line for buses stretches from the pickup zone up the stairs to the over pass and back down onto the platform. Last week they had the buses arriving very regularly, this week have been waiting for like 15 minutes and more trains then buses have turned up so far.

Kinda surprised I need to say this but Queensland Rail IF YOU CANNOT MANGE CLOSING MULTIPLE LINES AT ONCE THEN DONT.

Thats why im catching the virgin flight from Gladstone to Brisbane this morning. I received a text late last week that there may be lengthy delays on the train trip i had booked. I cancelled the train ticket and bought one of 6 remaining (cheapest) seats on the flight.

Unfortunately this is why I’m sceptical that a tram network would be any better. It seems in Australia that our approach to transport infrastructure maintenance is to completely close it. Japanese rail works because it’s run by Japanese people.
    At least the busses run.

My friend works at Queensland rail and helps with this stuff. They are uneducated and paid a looooot. Often clocking overtime by having conversations around the water cooler after hours. It’s run surprisingly well but that’s because it’s rgot strict controls and everyone is paid a lot of money with minimal or no education (they get roles and promotions based on psyc testing and experience from within the company). That’s my understanding anyway. They have minimal care factor for their job but the money is too good to leave. They stay for life.

Qr Rail needs to take a lesson from the Fat Controller, he never had issues of this kind

Can anyone comment on the state of getting from Brisbane to the Gold Coast on a weekday morning? I’m assuming it’s busier going from Gold Coast to Brisbane for work (maybe I’m wrong?). Supposed to be taking kids down to Gold Coast on Thursday and didn’t realise trains are a mess because we don’t usually take them. 🤦‍♀️ Flexible with times though, is off-peak any better or is it just awful all day?

  16. Not excusing this but people need to be aware that other buses exist. After seeing the crowds at Geebung and Northgate Station I jumped off the train at Virginia and now I’m riding an empty 310 bus into the city…

  17. Not sure which person in QR said it would be wise to stay on board until Northgate as I bet the line is moving a lot faster for Geebung and what is with the lack of buses – hangover from too many services for the Broncos game

  18. eliitedisowned on

Queensland rail doesn’t do rail replacement buses. That is managed by translink.

  19. Queensland rail track workers are currently on strike. North coast line closures from last week were extended with QR maintenance teams refusing to work.

If it is taking HOURS to get to work, you can legally go home. Any boss or job telling you otherwise is unlawful

The Crisifulli government is doing their best to make it as bad as possible to blame the unions.

  22. If you’re from the northside: I had to go in on Friday, instead of getting off at Northgate I got off at Geebung and got the express railbus (R620 I think it was) from there that went direct to Ann St outside Central. And then did the reverse on the way home.

The buses were every 3 minutes, even outside of peak – they’d legit fill one bus up, send it on its way, and there was already one behind it.

It’s not Queensland rails fault they aren’t getting the basic rights they deserve, blame the government for shutting down transport. Rail just wanted the commercial trains to stop.
