TLDR:
Went on 3km return walk
Took a wrong turn on and enters the water race which is like an over grown path.
Left water race, article suggests accidentally
Drops phone accidentally
Shelters for the night
Tries to find phone
Finds river and follows it down stream
At some point drowns in river (appears to be the day after she went missing)
Body would have been hidden in river during time of initial police search

It strikes me that, even on a relatively short walk, you can just make one not great decision and get lost so easily.
Always treat the bush seriously.
If you are going into the bush alone, tell someone where you are going, when you will be returning, and what you would like them to do if they don’t hear from you.
