Hei everyone!
My family and I are visiting Norway and the Lofoten Islands soon. My youngest daughter, Arya, is undergoing a doctor-supervised treatment for an egg allergy. This requires her to take very specific daily doses of pasteurized egg whites.
I checked with one local grocery store and they mentioned they don’t carry liquid egg whites in cartons. I was wondering if anyone in this community knows which specific grocery chains in Oslo, the Lofoten area (Svolvær, Leknes, etc.), and Bergen usually stock pasteurized liquid egg whites (Eggehvite)?
If you happen to see them, would you be willing to snap a photo of the back of the carton (ingredients/nutrition label)? Or share online link? I need to clear the specific brand with her doctor.
Example
Thank you very much!

Thank you very much for all the help!

Check with Spar or Meny. I have seen it there before.

Meny should have it: https://meny.no/varer/meieri-egg/eggehvite
Meny has eggwhites in most stores I think. Gymstores might also have some.
[Meny](https://meny.no/varer/meieri-egg/eggehvite) sells liquid egg whites, but I don’t think they’re pasteurised.
I did some basic googling on the one people have linked from Meny. I do not think it is pasteurized, but for most cases that is not needed here. If there is a specific reason it needs to be heat treated or pasteurized in regards to the allergy, then ofc that is important. But if it is just for it to be safe for raw consumption then the non pasteurized version is safe here. Bacteria like salmonella is practically eradicated, and as a result the eggs in Norway (and most of europe) are not treated at all, and goes straight from the chicken and into the grocery stores with no washing or treatment. (like they have to be in the US)
Couldn’t you just boil eggs and give her?
Should be easy to separate the yolk, and you can cut it into whatever dosage you need, knowing the whites will be pasteurized during the boiling no matter where the eggs came from.
Unless it has to be raw eggwhites.
Thank you for the recommendation. I’ll reach out to Meny and get this info.
Thank you so much!
You won’t find pasteruized eggwhites in Norway. Just get a carton of eggs from the nearest shop, and separate it yourself.
But Meny as previously mentioned and Coop Mega will sometimes stock it, but I wouldn’t count on it.
You can eat eggs raw in norway
Could you sous vide whole eggs, and then separate? Pasturized eggs are not that common in Norway. A sous vide stick or machine would allow you to heat the eggs to your exact needed degree, pluss minus half a degree (depending on type of sous vide equipment).
