They are the people in the regions where they struggle to pay the bills, either because they are poorer or because there are fewer subsidies (not because they pay the bills more, in short, before anyone says it).

The data on the right is obviously the percentage incidence: 18% of individuals in energy poverty in Puglia (!), 17.4% Molise, etc. up to 5% in Lazio.

In the analysis Household costs for purchasing fuel are not included for cars and motorbikes. In general, we talk about energy poverty even when the weight of energy expenditure on family income exceeds levels considered normal

According to the OIPE, a family finds itself in a condition of energy poverty when is unable to access essential energy services – such as heating, cooling, lighting and use of household appliances – at a sustainable cost compared to their income

As regards natural gas, last March the average stock market price stood at 53 euros/MWh (see Chart 1), up compared to 38.7 in 2025 and 36.3 in 2024. Also in March, the cost of electricity also recorded an average of 143 euros/MWh (see Chart 2), against 116.1 in 2025 and 108.3 in 2024

  • Oops, in the title I was writing “Puglia Calabria and Molise the regions most at risk”, but it was disgusting, I changed it to “with more people in energy poverty,” and I forgot to delete a part of the sentence obviously =D
