  1. First step… there has been many first steps, but none towards a breakup thus far.

I’ve never used Ticketmaster, but from what I can tell, it absolutely seems like a violation of anti-trust rules.

  3. I can’t wait for the judge to get hit with a $45 ‘Verdict Convenience Fee’, a $30 ‘Gavel Processing Fee’, and an $80 ‘Digital Print-at-Home Ruling Surcharge’

Anything that happens a legally will be less than the profits they made over the years, so it’s just the cost of doing business for them. Our Govt has zero meaningful teeth when it comes to corporate policing

The Ticketmaster CEO is about to show up at the White House with a gold bar bribe for the orange man’s personal gold bar bribe collection.

The ruling will be nullified in a week’s time.

Don’t worry TicketMaster Fans ^((TM)) they’ll make a large donation to DTs ballroom project and the DOJ will quietly drop all farther inquiries about their shady practices.

  7. I have never understood why venues can’t handle their own ticket sales? It would solve a lot of these middleman issues.

In before Ticketmaster lobbies whoever they need to and any court challenges go away for the next decade.

  9. Good! It’s one of the best examples of an industry where competition is badly needed to spur pricing reform.

Lets hope this results in a drop in prices eventually, I dont even bother looking at live shows now

I will believe it when I see it actually happen and not get reversed somehow

Biden and Harris were working hard on this. Both, wanted all junk fees eliminated. As well as lowering all prescriptions drugs. Sadly, that isn’t what Americans wanted.

Thank fucking god. There should be a rule for industries like this that if you don’t have 10+ companies in the market, it needs to be broken up until there’s at least that much competition.

The whole reason late stage capitalism fails is because monopolies or oligopolies eliminate the things that supposedly make capitalism work: competition.

  14. Rockefeller 2.0….they’re going to get richer by having to sell off assets, and somehow still get their fingers on royalties, and whatever loophole crap they can come up with 🙄.

It’s so hard to fight these monopolies. Now waiting for Trump to defend them and call out the judges.

  16. This merger should have never happened in the first place. Promoters and venues should be prohibited from vertical integration that is so easily abused.

  17. The big question is why it took so many years to validate the fact. Ticketmaster, during the time, has been and still is making a ton of profits.

  18. This just tells me they didn’t grease the right palms. Half of the shit we all need is a monopoly now. The prices rise and the service lags in service of the almighty profit God. The capitalism we were sold depended on competition in order to provide good service at a fair price. That lever broke off many years ago now. Probably buried right next to the SEC.

I’m glad to see at least one monopoly stopped, but how about we take a look at half a dozen other sectors now.

Later after the break, the Pope is Catholic, water is wet and bears do shit in the woods./a

Honestly, though, thank God. Too little competition in so many industries right now.

This won’t happen because Ticketmaster will just pay this dude like five million bucks in Bitcoin and it’ll all go away, that’s the truth of the matter.

    Welcome to the new merica.

Just make ticket reselling companies illegal.

If you wanna resell your ticket, its gotta be done by the individual buyer or the original company.

I’ll believe it when I see something happen. There’s been talk of this for years.
