  1. So would Canada now have 7 time zones following this, if this is exclusive to Alberta?

  2. Hockey fans are not going to like the change. We already complain a lot about 8pm start times for games in California, now they will be 9pm start times.

  3. The rest of the Canada needs to be like Alberta

Didn’t see myself saying that in 2026 lol

  4. Science has shown that standard time is better than DST.

However I’ll take either over switching ever again.

Alberta now is the second Province to follow BC! With how much travel that happens between Alberta and BC it would have been inconvenient for that travel to involve a time change for half the year sometime when only driving a few hours.

  6. That’s great. It would be somewhat funny if adoption happened in the inverse direction of the sun.

Saskatchewan now has the ball in its court. And if they do, it puts pressure on Manitoba.
And if it gets that far, I can’t see Ford not pouncing on a popular measure, and it it does, Quebec will move in sync with Ontario.

I bet the people in states directly south of our provinces are also hoping to see this cascade throughout Canada since a timezone shift while traveling south would make no sense.

Edit: I stand corrected, Saskatchewan is already on standard time.

  7. Meanwhile in Eastern Canada.

    * Ontario: “I’ll do it if you two do it.”
    * Quebec: “Je le ferai si vous deux le faites.”
    * New York: “Who are you and why do you keep calling me.”

Good. BC went ahead and did it, now Alberta is on board. Saskatchewan and Yukon are already on permanent DT. Time for the rest of Canada to get with the program. Stop waiting for the USA to get their act together.

  9. Such easy political points for any governing party in any province. Just do it already

Good. Come on Ford and just pull the trigger in Ontario so we stay on DST year round.

just a matter of time before she blames the feds for anything negative that comes from this lol.

“DONT LOOK AT ME!!! OTTAWA ISNT DOING ITS JOB!!!” lol.

  12. People complain about how hard it is to wake up in the morning then ask for daylight saving time so they can wake up one hour earlier than they would on standard.

“Useable sunlight hours” like winter will suck less when the sun only gets up at 9am is laughable.

Here’s hoping NB follows suit. But all of Atlantic would have to do the same

This is one of the best ways to fight the asshole down south. It will differentiate us and troll and trigger him. All of Canada needs to do it.

Oh and we need to do it also because screw this time chance crap.

  15. So will this put all of B.C. (the Kootenays is falling back this fall and that will be their last one as well) an hour behind Alberta at this point?

This will be strange if so, as the Kootenay region almost opted out of not doing the switch with their reasoning being they wanted to stay on the same time as Alberta. After this they will ALWAYS be an hour behind them lol.

  16. Just want time to pause, every switch just causes damage. Work is poor, kids are slow, more accidents on way to work. Just pick a time and keep it already.
