Timezones are such bullshit. Not the concept, but the implementation

This is incorrect. Canada has a Pacific time zone too.

North pole and Antartica probably have the same time zone somewhere.

Amazing to see Yukon being in UTC-7 when it “should” be in UTC-9, like Alaska, based on its longitude. And Alaska “should” be split between -9, -10, and -11. I wonder how late sunrise and sunset are in Yukon.

Where is Yukon on the map?

Countries near the equator don’t really get much of a sunlight difference throughout the year

We forget the curvature of the earth? Each degree of separation is shorter as you go more north… So…

Alberta just ended bi-annual time changes.

Even weirder that Argentina is EST.

It isn’t nearly as far west as the Mercator projection makes it appear.Â

It’s the same as Yukon Oklahoma.

Man, PR should consider being at -4:30 or pull a Nepal and be at -4:45. It would lessen the disconnect from solar noon significantly.

Same timezone, vastly different sunlight hours.

The fact Newfoundland is 0.5 offset is insane.

This is only during the winter. During the summer, most of the US switches one zone right, so BC/Yukon and WA/OR/CA are all on the same time zone.
Once fall hits and DST goes away, the west coast shifts an hour later and suffers early sunsets.

So this is true, but the map isn’t right now due to Daylight savings, Costa Rica is currently on the same time as Denver
