  1. Albo really is the absolute worst Labor leader in the last century, probably including Mark Latham… somehow.

At least Latham didn’t end up actually having the power to stop progress, Albo was lucky enough to ride the Scomo hate wave into power and absolutely squander it.

  2. Doesn’t matter which party but none of them will dare increase taxes on the large corporate donors.

  3. Why tax the gas giants making billions of dollars when we can (checks notes) tax the Australian people more, all in the name of “fairness”!

    Why?

Well… Those campaign dollars and donations from lobby groups aren’t coming from the actual voting public…

  4. For anyone who doubts it, this is what Labor actually believe in. They aren’t just scared or playing it safe. They’re fully bought and paid for by capital.

Won’t tax to protect national interests.

    Won’t attack dodgy NDIS providers.

Will remove support for people who need NDIS – both directly via NDIS, AND via removal (via lack of corrective action) of the previous services and pathways that existed prior.

Well fucking done you steaming cunt.

  6. A bit surprised he didn’t make a token effort and say it all taken care of, like his pathetic offering on gambling ads.

Starting to think hes not just an amiable idiot but a proper shit cunt.

  7. When else would be a better time!? Are you waiting for a 150 seat majority just to be sure?

  8. There was a line in Punters politics (Konrad) question time he said: when the gas runs out what will we have to show for it? Norway has trillions of dollars to invest when there resource is gone for the next thing.. we will have nothing.

That is so true..we will have nothing.

    Huh?

The ABC spoke to several senior sources who said they did not believe a new gas tax was being “seriously considered” and that — three weeks out from budget — no such plan had been brought to cabinet.

The Middle East conflict, they said, had made the proposal harder to execute.”

    This is kinda the opposite

  10. So… reading the article, he hasn’t done anything yet, it’s just *predicted* that he’ll kill off the proposal. Also I don’t know what the full proposal is but considering it’s Greens-Led, it’s probably too much.

I dunno it just seems this comment section is just a anti-albo echo chamber.

It does seem hypocritical to target NDIS “freeloaders” but then throw their hands up in their air when it comes to corporate tax.

  12. Weak af.

But typical labor though, way to spineless to rock the boat that could make positive change.

  13. Why? They have the biggest mandate in modern history. It’s wanted by the side of politics they’re meant to to represent. It would pull in the progressive vote they’re losing.

Albo has been such a fucking let down.

Anyone else miss ex-senator Doug Cameron?

    >No excuse for not taxing gas super profits, cutting the CGT and -ve gearing on housing and abandoning the madness of spending $368B on nuclear subs.
Cutting NDIS expenditure, subsidising multinationals, rich investors and the arms industry is not my understanding of Labor values!

His twitter is a good read

  15. If you feel strongly on this then send an email to your local member of parliament. A sudden influx of people telling them will put them on notice.

To pull their heads in and establish a reasonable royalty for a finite resource to benefit current and future Australians. If not, then leave it in the ground. It’s not going anywhere and people will want it eventually.

  16. The party that positions themselves as representative of workers, have been captured by capital interests. This isn’t a new development, but it’s still so depressing to see.

  17. StoicMeasure on

Everyone is acting surprised when the truth is that he is employed by the mining companies he is pretending to consider taxing

    Scammers

This guy is a fucking loser. He’s the worst leader that the ALP has ever produced. His sole legacy will be driving entire generations of progressive voters away from the ALP to the Greens.

He has strayed so far away from his roots.

  19. Albanese keeps playing it safe, but I think this is backfiring with voters. The polls are showing that this spineless approach by him is moving more voters to ON because voters are sick of his fence sitting.
