Just like everything else in this country, profiteering to the max.

Yeah but drivers deserve it. Remember that EVERY car is built by Satan himself and ALL drivers are murderers. /s

*However, a body representing fuel retailers said businesses were facing higher costs and also having to invest in new technology for electric vehicles.*
So the fuel companies making significant profits are keeping prices inflated, partially, to help pay for research and development in electric car charging and infrastructure etc. And they have to do this because of various legislation, which is fair enough, all sectors have to respond to legislative change, but they are asking for the consumer to fund this (whether fully or partially) despite making the profit levels they are. And probably getting grants from the EU, national Govs etc.
I get they are preparing to drastically overhaul the service they supply. How to acquire the fuel, how they store, supply, transport etc etc etc. But that is their challenge, not mine. I don’t get a share in their private business profits unless I invest in them. Not to mention a lot of these companies have significant historical *discrepancies* with price fixing, over paying CEOs, over charging consumers, pollution, etc – and god knows what else we do not know about. Yet we are funding this with the intention that the changes are for the *better of consumers/society*.
Aye cool. No problem.

I am not seeing why their desire to invest in electric charging so they can make money should push up fuel prices.

What? A cabal that buys up patents on free energy innovation and shelves them, or murders free energy research engineers / any competition to big oil, and stifles free speech around free energy tech, is charging people too much in profit you say? Never.

If you have one nearby then I would recommend getting a Costco membership even if only for fuel. They are consistently cheaper than any local supermarket or dedicated petrol station and sell premium fuel.
There’s a reason the queues are so long to fill up at a weekend.
