I wonder about those claims. Are these only extra costs of Epic Fury or do they include expenses that would have been incurred anyway? A carrier group probably costs the same if it’s operating in Asian waters as in the Middle East. But expenditure of missiles and such have to be paid for. A few planes have been lost. A few other things. Don’t know if that adds up to $25B.

25 billion a week?

Just a drop in the bucket against the 39 trillion debt

If that’s it, I’d actually be surprised. I expected much more, just based on how expensive everything already is militarily.

All just to replace Khamenei with Khamenei amazing

And how much damage to the economy?

Except remember when Rumsfeld said Iraq would cost “something under $50 billion”? It ended up costing over $800 billion in direct spending alone, and Afghanistan another $685 billion. Factor in veterans’ care, disability, and long-term costs and the two wars together land somewhere between $4 and $6 trillion (Harvard economist Linda Bilmes literally wrote the book on this). So yeah, that $25 billion number for Iran? Check back in 20 years…

Important context: this is coming from the same agency that has never passed an audit to account for trillions of dollars in spending.
How will this affect Social Security in the future?

So far? There is no way it is that low.

X3 most likely. I am interested in what we will find out 10 years from now when the real numbers come out

And human lives, and military equipment that needs to be replenished ASAP. And sent gas prices surging.
In the meanwhile, US oil exports hit record high levels and the UAE which does not depend on the Strait of Hormuz has left OPEC. 🤔

So… 13% of what we’ve spent in Ukraine so far.

Without counting, I guess, lateral costs like energy prices rise, fertilizer, etc… reduced investment from oil producers and other countries hit by price rises..
Thats a lot more.

That’s lower than I expected. It was the right move. We needed to prevent Iran from building a nuke, we did the right thing. We do need troops on the ground, and it bothers me that we have ruled that out.

Plus $561 billion in increased costs to us. $5000 per household.

It’s no surprise that they aren’t including [billions of dollars in damage from Iranian attacks](https://thehill.com/policy/international/5849646-iran-damage-us-military-bases/) in their cost assessment. $25 billion might as well be a number they pulled out of their ass.
