Shame, I hope they rebuild and return to power. They did more good in those five years than any other political party in my lifetime

<shrug> The Greens will be back because I see other parties slowly but inevitably (bit-by-bit) adopting Green positions.

Good. They betrayed the Irish people by siding and backing many other party rotten antics while in government – besides stabbing the people in the back themselves.

Thats what they get for being all stick and no carrot.

You cant punish people for using cars when there is literally no alternative in many parts of the country.

Edit: Imagine downvoting this. Imagine 97% of the country saying no thanks to your policies and you still think no were right and they’re wrong. Until the greens take a long look at themselves then they’re going to stay in the waste bin of irish politics.

I think they lost the run of themselves, wanted to do too much too quickly. Doubt they’ll make a return in the foreseeable.

    6. Thank god and good riddance.

Their only policy is to fleece the shit out of the working person whilst completely ignoring industry as the main polluter.

    7. Half baked polices and and initiatives along with a bumbling idiot as a leader will do that to you, it could and should have went so much better

    8. The Greens are just another wealthy Dublin “social justice” party chasing 10% of the vote. They made a poor leadership choice.

Tye party that calls itself left wing and refused to make the biggest polluters pay. The only reason that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael went in with them is because left wing is a phrase they use but their actions prove not. Labour see themselves as left-wing and have no problem punishing the ordinary person to recapitalise the rich. Actions speak louder than words.

If ever there was a party decimated by the reality of enacting their policies.

    11. I don’t think that it’s a coincidence that the venn diagram of people in this thread bashing the greens and people making spelling mistakes is just a single circle.

heavy electoral losses is a big understatement they were almost completely wiped out in the last general election with 1 sole surviving TD from 12 the previous general election

The Green’s aren’t around to promote policies for tackling climate change – they’re around to co-opt the vote of people who _would_ support such things, and then betray them.

That’s all they exist for. They have proven time and time again they have no principles, and will get in bed with the ‘rich/powerful vs poor/average-joe’ class war, that FFG have been engaged in for decades.

“Solving climate change by killing one poor person at a time.” – is an appropriate satirical slogan for the party.

    14. Stood next to the Green Party (Roderick) yesterday on the train for the second time. He practices what he preaches anyway.

They’ll likely make a comeback when the cost-of-living crisis cools down a bit. But a lot of serious greens won’t vote for them again because of their support for the FFG government. Some of their big names left the party recently too.

Their big problem is that they aren’t really that much more green than a lot of the other parties right now and they are seen as not caring about people’s financial struggles. There’s no market for them in the cost of living crisis.

Seem really nice in a passive agressive, condescending if you dont agree with me, kind of way… A green to me is a rich Dublin person who loves going to the countryside(Wesport or clonakilty) on their holidays, who enjoys drinking wine in a nice hotel overlooking a field & debating politics oblivious to a farmer on the land working his ass off and hotel staff driving to work to serve them… They didnt get 1 offshore wind turbine built in 5 years… Lovely nice people. Useless at executing. Its great to see roads & infrastructure being worked on since they left. The former limerick td jumped ship once the green agenda lost popularity… realising greens are a luxury party that get voted in when the economy is good… Good to have in opposition so the can make points but the EU is on top of the green agenda so no need for them really. Partly responsible for all the housing delays & silly environmental planning objections that are put in by people who couldnt give a hoot about bats. People objected to houses in my area. They didnt want a house built so they delayed the development because of bats. Nobody gave a crap about the bats but the solicitor advised the client to object on the bat grounds cause if some paperwork not submitted. If you object and win on envirno grounds you get to recoop your expenses. Madness. They pat themselves on the back around forestry but everyone has to import the wood now to build houses. Greens = barriers to execution! Our recycle bins end up in landfill and don’t get me started in having to drive the car to recycle cans… a racket of the highest order!!

The greens support open borders this does not benefit the Irish people.
