Aren’t side rooms usually for more seriously ill people? I was put in one because I had a compromised immune system.

Is there any evidence to back up the idea that cis women are not safe when trans women with GRCs are allowed to use women’s spaces such as hospital wards and toilets?

I thought we had bed shortages?
Are we saying that if I tell them I’m trans, I’ll get my own side room?

There’s such a shortage of beds that realistically, I don’t think you get many same-sex wards anymore. It’s literally a weird diversionary thing and not a real issue.

Not a chance this is feasible even on a practical level. Isolation rooms are used predominantly for those with infectious diseases or compromised immune systems, so unless hospitals see a reduction in the numbers of these specific patient cohorts or a reduction in the hospital overcrowding issue Keir is talking through his hoop.

Are there really the spare facilities to have individual rooms for every trans person?

I’m just so tired of people propagandizing about my existence being a threat to women. I have lived ten years as a woman, my entire adult life. I pass. I’ve never had anyone complain about me in women’s spaces. Doctors and nurses have had no problem accommodating me and treating me as a woman.
Kier Starmer is a smart man. There is no way he doesn’t know how much shite he’s talking here.
This feels slightly insane and fence sitting. Side rooms are hard to comeby and reserved for infectious patients (usually). Don’t think its even feasbile.

Practically, what this means is that trans people will end up stuck in A&E for days on end, being managed terribly by medical teams who forget they’re there and an A&E team who have passed on clinical responsibility. The solution, of course, is greater funding in hospital infrastructure, more side rooms and more staff, that will benefit everyone in society.

He knows trans women are not a threat. So do Streeting, Dodds, and the rest of them who are licking the boots of a vile hate movement [described as such by the United Nations](https://www.thetimes.com/uk/society/article/un-women-says-gender-critical-activists-are-anti-rights-movement-b5mk7h9qr). I can only hope that they’re just saying this to not give any red meat to the Tory base, but this is so fucking bleak, man.

Sounds like special treatment for a minority.
[We tentatively estimate that there are approximately 200,000-500,000 trans people in the UK.](https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/721642/GEO-LGBT-factsheet.pdf)
I’m sure people would prefer their leaders fix things in order of priority.
Transwoman here. When i was admitted a few months ago they moved me to a side room unprompted.
“Separate but equal” has not historically worked out great for the minority groups it has applied to
the NHS is in crisis! the demand for service cannot be met, and waiting lists are becoming shocking.
*”let’s make service provision more complicated, and more difficult to service in capital/revenue terms. yay!”*
And so begins what will be one of the great themes of his reign as PM – identity politics.
If we did that then there would be no siderooms left for the seriously I’ll
