AFAIK, the plant is Russian owned, and the EU has no ban against selling alumina to Russia. I’m not sure the state have a legislative basis for stopping them.

I’d support a crowdfunding for judicial review on previous planning decisions. Close that jetty.

And it’s the biggest (inevitable) eco disaster in Ireland waiting to happen

    5. Twenty years ago, when I was a student at the University of Limerick, there were significant ties between UL and Aughinish. One of my friends in the Mechanical Engineering department was doing a PhD on impeller blade design which was largely funded by Aughinish (they paid for a rack of DELL servers to run the CFD calculations). Aughinish wanted to understand how to design a better impeller which would erode slowly so they could extend the time between maintenance windows. Aughinish were effectively paying UL to be their R&D department.

A [quick search](https://www.google.ie/search?q=site%3Aul.ie+Aughinish+Alumina) shows this relationship is still alive.

They need to suspend the operations at the plant with regard to ruzzin supplies. Wher is the EU on this?

Ireland could play a real part in ending this war if it gets up off of its arse
