PS want to reduce immigration -> government tightens citizenship rules -> people rush to apply on old conditions -> new record in citizenships granted

    2. Next: number of people leaving Finland after getting citizenship reached new record in 2026? 😀

    3. Probably not the biggest driver but in the 2-3 years leading to the changes in citizenship rules (which definitely was the major reason for this rise), few countries introduced dual citizenship law. I.e. they wouldn’t have to give up their 1st citizenship to acquire the Finnish one.

This probably also had something to do with rise in applicants in those year. One example country has a lot of restaurants all over Finland, some even call it the national food of Finland.
