Alright, go for it. Pull the trigger. I was in the “She should run for senate against Schumer” camp, but if she is going to enter the presidential race as a front runner, I am on board.
AOC leading the Democratic ticket in 2028 is the best way to ensure that MAGA has a life beyond Trump. Do those of you celebrating this – do you ever get outside of the Progressive bubble?

I know she’d do a great job, but she can have a much better long term impact on progress in the country by waiting. The presidency has historically been the capstone and end of a political career. If she won two terms she’d be done at 46. Thats easily 30 years short of what it could be. That’s a long time to watch from the sidelines and be followed by secret service for the rest of your life.
I love her and think she would make a great president but she would 100% lose a general election. Too many racist, sexist people. She is hated by MAGA and disliked by too many independent. Fox News has done an excellent job of vilifying her. It’s sad but true.
This poll is an outlier. While I hope she runs and I would probably vote for her, all other polls have her in a distant third or fourth place.
This feels too hopeful like Bernie, and will probably be rejected but I’ve been saying for about 6 years at least, AOC 2028
That’s not the position she’s best for, she needs to kick Schumer out and freaking lead the Senate. That’s where she can still stay like she is and not have to run to the middle for votes like every presidential candidate has to.
I think AOC is doing splendidly, but I don’t see how it makes any sense to run a third woman against fascists. They win on imagery, and, to Americans, the image of a woman is weak and losing.
She has zero chance of winning the presidency in America’s current form. If she were the Dem nominee I would of course vote for her, but running a young, progressive Latina woman will fail spectacularly when factoring in voting demographics. Obviously, she wouldn’t get any Republican votes. She would very clearly split moderate/independents, and would lose some who lean left but are convinced by the mainstream media that she is too radical. And then, she’d also probably lose some neoliberals who don’t think a woman should be president, especially a minority woman, in the same way that many of them failed to turn out for Harris in 2024. With America’s current voting demographics, running AOC would be an unmitigated disaster and those who might push her to the nomination will deserve the loss in 2028.
She should stay focused on congressional politics for now. She can definitely unseat Schumer in the Senate.
I’d vote for her in a heartbeat.
In my opinion she should run for senate. She could use more time to hone her messaging for a national campaign and the Democrats desperately need better leadership in the Senate.
I’ll support whatever she does, but I’m not excited to watch *another* incredibly capable woman lose to the worst possible option because of her gender…

I am for most of the things she stands for, but this seems to be a great way to lose an election that republicans are practically handing you. Trump still has his base. To win, you need the people in the center. She’ll scare them towards Trump.

The people of the United States are obviously not ready to elect a woman. Can we for the love of god put up a candidate who actually has a shot of winning?

The fuck is the point of primaries people? How are we ever suppose to make any progress with that kind of loser attitude? People are suppose to vote their heart in the primaries, fall in line *after*. The strongest candidate will make it through. Maybe that’s AOC, maybe it’s not. We won’t know who is until then.
The fact that commenters here are weary of running AOC, drawing distinctions between men and women for the presidential role as though there are some inherent disadvantages, says everything about the shoddiness of American politics.
She’s the only candidate that gives me hope for the future. There’s others I’d happily vote for, like Buttigieg or Walz, but none I’d be *excited* to vote for like AOC.
She’s the only candidate other than Bernie who would actually fight for the change we need.
