Does the Smiths have the same ancestor?
My colorblind self was like “no way Quebec’s most common last name is Martinez, maybe Martinou” lol
The color for Quebec does not appear in the key. The shade of orange for Tremblay is darker than Quebec is.
Any reason why LA is Williams?
Having grown up in southern New England surrounded by Irish, Italians, and Portuguese, I’m surprised Smith is still #1 in the region
Lotta bluenosers names Martinez, eh.

Tremblay
Brutal color scheme… the two shades of red don’t match their intended targets and the two oranges are virtually identical. Surely there were other colors in the rainbow to use.
This wouldn’t belong on r/mapporn if the color scheme wasn’t half the comment responses.
What’s the story behind Power? That seems so random

I’m really struggling with the oranges.
Manitoba being the only place with a Mennonite name checks out. Map is accurate.
Can confirm, worked in Halifax. So many MacDonalds.
guess the real challenge is choosing which to host

boy it’s really Friesen up there in Manitoba
what happened to mass and new hampshire
My family is a MacDonald from NS so this checks out.
Live in New Mexico and can confirm there’s a lot of Martinez here. Over half the people in my company have Spanish surnames.
I would like to see per county lol
What about Singh?
Imagine if America got Canada and Mexico and renamed itself as Canada-US-Mexico States or CUMS!
I wonder why Manitoba is Friesen
Nunavut is Smith?!?
Howard Johnson is right!
once had a map spill coffee, ended up with some creative district lines
