The case regarding 7 defendants who were tried for allegedly carrying out activities on behalf of the terrorist organization ISIS and collecting money for the organization was heard at Diyarbakır High Criminal Court.
**Among the defendants is Osman Akın, codenamed “Mamoste El Kürdi”, who is claimed to be responsible for ISIS in Türkiye. In his defense, Akın argued that the “Ahlak ve Sunnah” magazine, which is close to the organization, was legal and that his speeches on his YouTube channel were not propaganda.**
He claimed that the ISIS ring he was carrying had the name of Allah on it and that it had no other meaning. The prosecutor drew attention to the MASAK report in his opinion. He said that money transfers were seen many times in the defendants’ account transactions.
**He stated that there were phrases such as “infak, alms, aid to orphans and donations” in the description part. He also reminded that during the searches carried out in the defendants’ homes and workplaces, banned media organs aimed at propaganda of the terrorist organization and ISIS flags were seized.**
Osman Akın, who is said to be the Turkey responsible for the organization, attended the opening of the Ethics and Sunnah Association in Yalova, where 3 police officers were martyred as a result of the ISIS attack on December 29, 2025, and the minutes of the conversations there were also included in the case file.
***The prosecutor requested that all 7 defendants be punished for the crimes of “being a member of an armed terrorist organization” and “violating the law on the financing of terrorism”. However, the court acquitted 7 defendants separately on the grounds that “there was no definitive and convincing evidence”.***
