    1. I feel like Streeting would be even more unpopular than Starmer, so I’m not sure why he is bothering to run. Especially considering he’s extremely likely to be booted out of his seat in the next GE. It would be a disaster for him to run

    2. Can’t wait for his leadership attempt to fail. Streeting thinks he’s bigger than he actually is.

    3. I’m quite surprised how little self awareness he has to not realise how deeply unliked he is.

    4. Starmer’s look of bland indifference in that picture, is both the appropriate reaction and the correct meme.

Government quietly posting economic and health wins on the same day and this twerp puts his misguided personal ambition over everything to undermine it all.

    6. NoTitleChamp on

If he triggers a leadership contest I hope he falls flat on his face. Don’t forget he is directly a friend of Mandelson and was on the camp pushing for him to get the job.

They’re only screwing themselves over, the public are no more favourable towards Streeting than Starmer. What are they going to do when Streeting also does shit in the local elections? Another leadership contest? You’re just signing your parties death warrant at that point, it’s worse than just staying course and makes the party look ridiculous. They’re not popular now but we’re far from the floor if they keep acting like this.

Hopefully serves as a timely reminder that there are plenty of worse options than Starmer.

I know little about this guy, but he seems even more of a cunt than Starmer.

    10. Desperate_Caramel_10 on

Good riddance, Streeting. The last thing the country needs is yet another change of leadership and if Streeting is too daft to see that then it’s a relief that he has gone.

    11. Most leadership bids either require undeniable appetite for change, a leader at the absolute nadir of their popularity, or a challenger at the absolute zenith of theirs. I’m not sure this scenario features any of the three, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this all blow over after a few more rats jump ship.

    12. Streeting can get in the bin, say what you will about Starmer but he’s far more preferable than Streeting

    13. ChampionOk4044 on

Either way I think this will be bad, even if Starmer wins he will need to select a new health secretary and knowing Starmer whoever it is will spend months in the media for some minor controversial issue, like a tweet, being non british or whatever.

Starmer has to both win and choose his replacement wisely, which given the Burnham mess he probably won’t

      EDIT, imagine its Rayner lol

    14. Doily_Enjoyer on

Well, I guess once he fails, he’ll have a lot more time to sit about huffing his own farts.

    15. Given his active disdain for doctors, his history of lying, his pet store incident, and his Mandelson texts, he surely can’t be considered.

Then again the media love Farage who had an even worse record so who knows

Strewting is so bad he makes starmer look good.

Hope the labour members that are left vote against his leadership bid

    17. I think we’ve just found out how to boost Starmer’s popularity.

By comparison to Wes. Nobody wants this do they?

    18. Wes sending himself to the backbench when his coup fails is going to be so fucking funny.

    19. Very_Bad_Ebening on

The only man with less charisma than Starmer will nuke his career due to a complete lack of self- awareness, you love to see it.

    20. LegendaryArmalol on

Now the pick-me is gone maybe Labour could start swinging slightly back toward the centre.

      Hopeful thinking I guess.

    21. EvocativeReach on

So we’ve lost Jess Phillips and now Wes Streeting – wheres the downside exactly? Can we lose Rayner next and then things are truly starting to look up!

    22. SiriusBlack99999 on

I hope he fails in spectacular fashion. He is shifty. The kind of person who would sell out anybody to get more power.

    23. With a majority of only 528 it’s not unlikely he’ll lose his seat come the next election

    24. This may well be a blessing for Starmer.

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s how much of a twat Streeting is.

    25. I honestly don’t know why he expects to do well in a leadership contest if he hasn’t been able to scrape together the required 80 MPs in the last few days.

    26. I don’t personally think Starmer should go at all, but if party members truly think he’s not the man to lead them, in what way is replacing him with Streeting going to give any type of improvement.

Burnham I get he’s more of a populist who will probably enjoy more support after speeches etc (although I expect come the next election the press will of done enough to turn most against him), but Streeting really?

    27. I understand wanting to replace Starmer with Burnham and Rayner, but I cannot fathom what good would come of replacing him with Streeting

    28. I would say I feel sorry for Starmer but him pandering to the right of the party was always going to end badly.

They sabotaged Blair, helped tanked Brown and Ed’s image, sabotaged Corbyn and now they’re tryna coup power from Starmer.

Streeting dosent realise how much he is despised by people for the charlatan he is, he’s vastly overestimating himself.

    29. Caacrinolass on

The letter was basically “we are so amazing with the NHS, but anyway you suck so I’m leaving”.

      Shut up Wesley.

    30. PickleMortyCoDm on

He claims he has “lost confidence” in Starmer. What does that even mean? Like why can’t any of these MPs quitting be specific, because it looks to me like they’re sabotaging labour as a childish reaction to losing seats to reform.

And let’s be honest, reform is Tory 2.0 considering so many of their ranks are ex Tories… Who are the very people to blame for the country being in the state it is

    31. Stainless-S-Rat on

Any man who strives for power should in my opinion be automatically disqualified from holding high government positions.

Ambition is fine but I’ve encountered far too many people who mistook ambition for competence and they ultimately weren’t the ones who paid the price when they failed.

    32. Breaking news:- Politician is narcissist who cares more about his own ambition than the good of the country, more at 6…

    33. Good. Try to get someone who is not a Mandelson acolyte, beholden to private health companies and who has been radicalised by Mumsnet in charge of health.
