20 year minimum, which is on the higher end, even for raping children. There’s a decent chance he’ll never be released.
From the BBC article: “Despite his convictions, the court received letters of support for Khan from his family and some members of the community ahead of sentencing.”
As the court is public I hope these letters will be made public too, and these er “members of the community” lose their jobs. And the police seize and search all their devices to see if any of them are pedophiles too.
It’s astonishing that people would go on record to defend a Man who raped children and young girls.
His case is a profoundly depressing read.
The only thing that worries me about this is that there are basically gangs of muslims in UK prisons now who might still respect him because of his previous position in their community so he ends up having a fairly easy time of it.

Are we sure about that?
20 years to bring him to justice from the first crime as well. His victims had to watch him walking around being a “respected faith leader” all that time.
No doubt he will carry his rank into the prison and be treated like a prince by certain prisoners.
