Three-time Trump voter furious that the guy who was openly awful all three times has continued being openly awful.

Listen. Stop being loyal to politicians. Stop it. Even the ones you like. You support them only insofar as they keep doing the shit you need them to do.

I have approximately zero sympathy for anybody who voted for that MFer three times. I hope you suffer along with the rest of us, jerk. Anybody who voted for him three times is confirmed to me as a pure bigot, and not just as a stupid person.
You aren’t my fellow citizen. You’re my sworn enemy, and it is too late to change your fucking mind. Never forgive, never forget.

They’ll vote for the next right wing lunatic next time and pretend like they didn’t vote for Trump.

A long time ago I was predicting this cult breakup to a MAGA relative. I said the country would need a lot of psychiatrists to deal with all the grief and anger.
His response? “So you think we need reprogramming?you probably think concentration camps will be set up. How totalitarian!”
I’m pretty sure he is experiencing a lot of grief and anger today. I heard through the grapevine that he thinks ICE is going way too far with their kidnappings and concentration camps. We still don’t talk much.

Everyone, please keep in mind what the straw was that broke the camels back. It wasn’t oppression of immigrants. It wasn’t destroying decades of respect and goodwill with allies. It wasn’t even just the economy. It wasn’t the absolutely un-Chistrian values and discourse of the man at the top.
It’s gas prices. That’s what’s causing MAGA to lose faith in Trump. He’s hurting the wrong people to them.
we_are_sex_bobomb on
It’s not loyalty. It’s fear. Fear that everyone who says they love you will suddenly hate you, and knowing exactly what that hate looks like in action because you’ve been watching them dish it out on non-whites and queer people for so long, you’ve seen that there really are no limits to the cruelty or vindication you will experience by going against the current.
Back when I was a young adult, that’s what kept me quiet around my family, around my friends, in my church, until it didn’t anymore. And the key thing I remember from that period of my life when I had to stop being passively permissive and start saying “no, this is wrong and what you’re doing is evil” was fear. Ice cold, paralyzing fear.
Pushing back cost me almost all my friends, my home and much of my family. And yet my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.
That’s why on the one hand historically I have had immense respect for anyone who actually breaks free of the cult of conservatism, because it takes immense courage and willpower to do so, but nowadays it’s getting to a point where you have more to lose by following the cult into its mass suicide endgame than quitting and facing the wrath of its members. Staying is becoming more scary than leaving because it’s becoming clear now that there is no eternal reward for serving as the hand of Satan.
I think it speaks to Trump’s ineptitude as a cult leader that he managed to make even cowards with no self awareness start to splinter away for the sake of self preservation.

I hate that we are are just waiting for 1/3 of Americans to figure out what everyone else has known for a full decade … and anyone from NY knew since the ’80s.
He’s a fraudster and a conman and a lifelong loser whose only talent is exploitation.
He’s openly robbing the Treasury blind and destroying our republic, and will continue to do so until three-time MAGA voters finally wake the fuck up.
Until then, we’re all hostages to the dumbest f*cking people on the planet.

For any Trump supporters who weren’t primarily driven by their own xenophobia, the only path to redemption is to identify every source of information that led them to believe that Trump would help them: Fox News, Facebook groups, Twitter feeds, AM radio, family, friends, colleagues, pastors – and stop consuming information from it / them. Full stop.
“They’re eating the cats, they’re eating the dogs” would have been an instant disqualifier had people not been slowly brainwashed for decades by Fox News and other conservative media that the “other” was the real enemy coming to take away their way of life and everything they value and love. Even for people who didn’t believe what Trump was saying was true, they believed it was the *right direction* thanks to decades of propaganda.
And while the reality they’ve engineered has them punching down on immigrants, punching across at their neighbors, and punching up at their political opposition because those groups are “looting and corrupting this country”, conservative groups are disassembling the institutions and procesesses that stand between their rich benefactors and direct control of this country.

This is why you don’t tie your political identity to a person or group.
Your political identity should be one that you form for yourself through your experiences and your beliefs about the world, be those beliefs ones I agree with or don’t.
Your political ID should be one that is something you create, and not an external factor you extract approval from.
