That is a pretty comprehensive score difference. Guess them beating Meath wasn’t just a fluke.

That settles it, petition to make West Meath into Meath, and Meath into East Meath.

Excellent stuff. Plenty of fuel left in the tank at the end of ET too. Pints will be had in Mullingar tonight!

    4. Delighted for Westmeath.

      McHugh impressive manager.

Dublin screwed for years and years.

    5. One town (Athlone) having two provincial champions has to be some sort of record

Let’s not forget that Kildare graciously allowed them into the Leinster final

What a day and what a game!

Crazy how it felt like we were in control for the majority of the game. Did not think Dublin had fallen off that much

      Congrats Westmeath.

Remember Dublin are like England. No matter who they’re playing, it’s always fun to see them lose

Dublin need help from the GAA, time to merge the Dubs with Kildare, maybe even Wicklow.

    10. Got absolutely played off the park today, fair play Westmeath, looked the fitter and hungrier team all game

    11. Under the old system we’d be looking at semi finals of Kerry v Roscommon and Armagh v Westmeath. As a Dub, let me say how wonderful it was to see Westmeath and their fans joy today. This was their day, they were fantastic

There will be champagne flowing in Athlone and Mullingar tonight. The whiskey factory in Kilbeggan is giving free bottles out to anyone with a westmeath Jersey on

I never really got into Galeic football or hurling much nor did I ever follow it. I think its becuase my family raised me liberal so I was never exposed to local customs, so it was as if it didn’t exist to me. Of course I would have played it a few times in childhood but thats about it.

My grandparents would have been into watching gaelic/hurling etc. on the TV, but I would be watching “soccer” or Americanized content. In a way I’m removed from Irish culture in a sense.
