The poll shows Democrats have a double-digit lead, 50 percent to 39 percent, when registered voters are asked which party’s candidate they’ll support for Congress. That’s a notable shift from Times/Siena polls earlier this cycle — which showed Democrats up two to five points.
Anything like it would easily overcome the Republicans’ redistricting advantage in the House and suggest that Democrats could be highly competitive in the Senate. It won’t be a win for the Dems unless we get the supermajority. We have to not just make the right impotent, we have to make them irrelevant.
So when Democrats take over and redraw the maps in their favor, the GOP SCOTUS will be fine with it… right?
If they do lose the majority the response will be something ironic like, “See? That’s how horrible the radical left gerrymandered the country, we can’t even win the majority when we gerrymander!” All talk of ‘have better policies’ will go out the window.
Gas prices could rise to $10 a gallon, and Trump will still be worshipped like a God by every middle aged gas station attendant in Kansas.

Not one single family member I’ve spoken to about this says they won’t vote republican. Institutional republicans who grew up voting for the same party no matter what will continue to do the same regardless of the impacts on their lives. It’s quite disheartening

What’s funny is they’re pissed at Trump and all his bullshit. They’re not pissed he’s stealing from them, but that gas prices are high and he started another war.
What’s funny is they will continue to vote for their republican congress, who are allowing Trump to do all this. It’s not just democratic dollars paying for all his bullshit lawsuits, but their money as well.
So why don’t they vote out all Republicans? since all but maybe 2-3 support Trump and all his illegal bullshit.
We need to elect democrats willing to fix the election system. Eliminate the electoral college, greatly expand the number of seats and switch to proportional elections. Judicial reforms as well.

I’m sick and tired of seeing polls every day stating that Trump’s approval has hit a new low, only to find out that he’s still above the 32% MAGA base that actually voted for him in the election. These polls include people who didn’t vote and people who have been lying to pollsters for the last ten years.
Make sure republican idiots never ever get back in power. Ever. Fuck the two party system if one party is literally perpetually and consistently pure cancer to the states and its people and the other party needs to fix their shit every time they are thrown out of office. Like, why the fuck even bother having two parties?!
Which also begs the question, why are people so fucking stupid they keep electing republican morons. Time and time again they have shown they don’t give a shit about the people, they literally and only care about themselves and their rich buddies. ALWAYS.

I am really hoping this completely backfires on them, but my fear is that Johnson will refuse to seat newly elected Dems. I’m not sure what the plan is to save US democracy, but be prepared for this to get real ugly.

Is anyone else getting really tired of seeing headlines saying Trump’s approval ratings are crashing, and then reporting that the latest poll shows an approval rating of 37%?
It’s been between 33 and 37% for months now, and I don’t think it’s going lower. And among Republicans it’s been steady at 60-70%, also for months.
It seems to me that somewhere between a third and two fiths of our citizens are just fine with Trump’s behavior no matter what he does.
I guess I’m just beginning to accept that there is, among my fellow citizens, a much deeper streak of love for authoritarianism than I ever realized.

Even if the GOP loses in the mid terms or even the 2028 election because of how unpopular they are all it will take is one Democrat in office to generate a little bit of hate and we’re right back in the shitter. We need a devastating level of votes to take over congress by more than 2\3rds and the presidency. At that point maybe, just maybe we can build\rebuild some of the guard rails including nuking gerrymandering as a practice across the board. Fuck states rights when it comes to a federal election.
I think articles like this are designed to diffuse the anger we feel towards the current administration. With that diffusion comes complacency and lower voter turnout.
