Like how useless is our govt control system for pretty much everything?
In other news water = wet
“When asked directly whether Transport Canada sometimes allowed airport workers with organized crime connections to keep security clearance, Botelho answered bluntly.
“It happens,” he said.”
Wonderful. Good to know they’re diligently looking out for the safety of our country. 🙄

Organized crime has been involved in our port of entries for decades already. This isn’t new.
All at Pearson
Well that is very surprising. Bob was in the mafia, but I’m sure he’s good at loading and unloading bags. Nothing to worry about
A victim of this scam (like those listed in a previous article) needs to sue Transport Canada and then things will change.
So Transport Canada is the problem it seems, who from these organizations infiltrated TC to allow this? I can’t fathom how this would be happening otherwise. Sheer negligence? No, it’s gotta be more than that. I hope there’s a reckoning and a purge of these individuals, including the management that let it happen.
The amount of hoops I need to jump through in order to work as a government employee in an airport that uses the same security clearance system are prohibitive. Meanwhile..
Have the names been released yet?
Did these employees become a part of the organized crime after getting their security clearance and the job? Or were they a part already and the background check missed it?
> Before his 2018 conviction, McLean had twice been charged with drug offences. He had also been caught attempting to pass through Pearson security carrying an empty ammunition magazine.
> Despite all of that, he retained both his job and his airport security clearance.
??????????????
I mean that means there is hope that Poilievre can get his clearance then right :)?
Well…we can’t discriminate,…
So they didn’t even do basic background checks. Fuck.
An AC employee friend tried to blow the whistle on this 20 years ago.
The Premier of Ontario was a prolific drug dealer with ties to organized crime and no one cared
We let terrorists in our country, so no this doesnt shock me
Now do the ports…
I am hipeful that security will probably improve after Carney auctions off our airports to private companies.
As a condition of employment, all workers at ports and airports should have mandatory background checks
You have to remember airport security is provided by a private company in Canada.
There is one over-worked manager in charge of hiring for an entire airport.
They do fingerprint everyone who gets hired but if you aren’t flagged by the system or the couple phone calls they made to whomever you put on your resume you are good to go.
