Honestly, it feels like Morrisons is a dead man walking kind of company
The McColl’s stores they bought in 2022 and rebranded. All small convenience stores that are losing money
My local Morrisons Daily is nearly always empty and so poorly staffed it’s often closed when it shouldn’t be.
I would not be shocked if it closed. Given it only offered extra hours on Sunday, it’s convience store prices were a joke given its location.
Their food went to shit a long time ago and simultaneously became expensive in comparison to other supermarkets.
I used to like the bakery and the butchers, but it’s been a bit crap for a while.
The salad bar is still okay, but still not as good as it used to be.
My local Morrisons is forever shafting customers at the self service kiosks with incorrect pricing and non-application of deals/offers. I have to call someone over almost every time I shop there.
I’ve lost faith in being able to shop there on a regular basis, much prefer Tesco or Aldi these days.
Daily stores all the ones closing are ex mccolls no list of stores though.
Morrisons honestly feels like the supermarket you go to when your only other option is Waitrose, M&S, or some other place out of your price range. But never a first choice
I find Morrisons to be quite good, only supermarket I know except Waitrose that has a proper fresh fish counter. They have some nice own brand stuff too. Certainly prefer it to Sainsbury and Asda in terms of quality.
Not a fan, it’s always like they were designed by someone who’d never been to a supermarket but had one vaguely described down a telephone with bad reception.
But they’re the only supermarket in the UK who sell edible steak. So I’ll miss them for that.
Nobody’s reading the article, are they 😅 It’s the Morrison’s Daily stores that are closing. Not the supermarkets.
My local one is definitely one of the ones closing. It’s right next to a larger Sainsbury’s local which out-classes is in every metric. It’s already closed more than it is open, which is super frustrating as it houses the post office desk.
That’s a shame. My local Morrisons is special to me because it was the only thing that got me through lockdown shops, having most things in stock that Tesco and ASDA was completely out of for months.
Morrisons was a uk family owned business.

This is like the third or fourth time they have tried the local / daily store format and every single time it fails miserably for them.
Maybe they should just stick with the big store format
The big one by me is dirty and hardly any stock in the freezers . I walked out last time and went up Tesco .
The Morrisons near me still feels like it did 30 year ago when it was a Safeway. They build an extension on the front for a pharmacy, but the main build just feels dated & neglected. It doesn’t help that it only really attracts those from deprived areas with the town centre, most of whom don’t drive. Their car park is used more by people using the surrounding businesses than the supermarket itself.
Morrisons is the store for people who live next to a Morrisons.
There are 2 Morrisons Daily stores and 2 big Morrisons within a mile of my house. It really seems like overkill.
Morrisons are unique(or were) with their supermarkets. The internal slogan was ‘we make it, we move it, we sell it. They have/had their own farms, meat processing units including abattoirs, veg processing units and fish processing unit. They made most of their own processed foods (pies, etc). They owned most of their own transport and the supermarket properties. Of course this might of changed with the VC buyout. The only people who benefited from that transaction were the shareholders who took the money and ran, including many of the senior management

The one where I used to live was a nice store. I would be amazed if it made any money because it was always empty. The busiest time would be lunchtime for the salad bar.
I’ve since moved and the local store is horrible. Again it’s always empty but I wouldn’t be surprised if the one close to me is on the list for closure
This is the most anti-Morrisons thread ever when Morrisons is superb in so many things. The salad bar, the cheeses, their flowers, their baby section. Their own brand pickles, olives and artichokes… chef’s kiss. This is a Morrisons stan account now.
They’re closing the McColls that Morrisons bought not Morrisons… they’re on shitty high streets next to betting shops (at least the 3 I know of) and they aren’t fit for purpose probably because their selection of fruit and veg is better than their vape selection.

Oh man, I live in a village where a Morrisons Daily is basically our only shop and post office combined. Losing it would mean a lengthy drive just to get a chocolate bar. Hope it gets saved by someone.
If you’ve never had a fresh cream cake from Morrisons try one, they’re the best
