What if we just started ignoring them until they get distracted by something else
Some kind of closure on the F-35 decision is the only gripe I kind of get here because that whole saga has been going on for way too long and for dumb reasons. However, now there is a legit reason to be wary of the whole product so… the US might want to give that a think before getting too demanding.

Who made the US the NATO police? We don’t have to show them our books so they can verify our expenditures. They can sod off. It’s also pretty apparent that they are delaying the F35 review until after CUSMA is settled to not be another irritant.
The country most likely to invade Canada is the US.
Hence, we are buying weapons from the US to protect ourselves from the US

The military industrial complex of the USA is a major driver of state economies. In blue Massachusetts the defence spending is unreal (MIT-Hanscome Airforce Base) and How many Raytheon locations and employees are there?!! It’s a very real concern for the Americans – if we don’t buy the F35 oh boy!! We have really freaked them out with the Gripen alternative!!

it’s really about the Americans trying to force procurement south of the border. We should take the Gripons, air surveillance assets, and the massive investments into our economy the Swedes are willing to invest, and keep decoupling out defence needs from u.s. interests.
As bad as it is for supply chain management, I see a mixed fleet in the future. This government will squander political capital if it doesn’t get in bed with the Euros after all the hullabaloo.
Just trump it out. Keep repeating that we are close to finalizing it, come back with nothing and just repeat the lies again. You can add some key words like winning, hottest country etc.

Interesting timing on this news, given it was also just announced that Canada is officially in SAFE. I think the best response would be “Pass on the planes and you’ll get the roadmap at the same time as the rest of NATO, however we’ve been friends for a while so we’ll give you a hint: it’s SAFE to say that it won’t be what you’re expecting.”
We are sincerely sorry for the delay. Unfortunately, we have been preoccupied by trade hostilities, financial instability, and threats to our sovereignty and the sovereignty of our allies instigated by…*checks notes*…well this is awkward.

Really funny the USA wants to leave NATO yet berates us for meeting nato targets that we agreed to meet by 2035. A decade from now.
Truly no clue who’s leading that country these days.
This is 100% about the Trump administration trying to squeeze Canada for every drop of leverage and has little or anything to do with actual concern about detailed information and Canadian spending plans.
They know the clock is ticking on the Trump administration delivering something they can sell as a “big win” as they go into the midterms. And Canada knows that too. Why is why we have no incentive to hurry.
They think they’re the smartest guys in the room. But the stench of mediocrity permeates the entire administration. Don’t give into their clown show.
I’d be happy to give them a clear decision of the F35, and explain where they can put it.

They wanted nearly 100% of Canadian defence spending to go to their stooges down in the states and now they’re upset that-that’s not happening.

The US bullies can blow goats.. they are mad because the 2% of GDP they contribute in more than ours!!! It’s simple math they have 390mill people we have 39mill people our GDP is 2.11trillion and theirs is 31trillion. 2% of 31 is a lot more than 2% or 2. Of course they input more. The USA actually spends 1.5trillion on their military alone, which I think is a fudged number due to all the “Black Ops” they possibly perform.
Non the less.. we are a smaller country with less money. Increasing our NATO spending from 2% to 5% takes away spending in sectors in Canada that really require the funding like Healthcare Care and Elderly care and Veterans Care. In the end…all of us taxpayers will end up paying more, which is what we already are doing, to cover this BS

Seems as though they’re kinda pissed that even though Canada officially met the target of 2% of it’s GDP by allocating 63B to be spent on military and defense sectors, Canada didn’t spend all of that money on US defense contractor equipment. Canada instead chose to diversify military procurements to other countries besides the US, as the EU is doing as well. It’s a loss of Billions to US defense contractors, hence the hissy fit. Pettiness at it’s finest.
