      Good! If it happens.

Is this a genuinly held belief or a ploy to get elected by the left wing membership and then, you know, go back on it?

    2. He’s literally saying anything at this point. Expect further U-turns in the morning.

The only possible reform of any significance would be to go republic, and that is not going to happen in the lifetimes of anyone here.

“party that faces wipe out at next election in favour of changing the rules”

he also wants to keep Shabana Mahmoods reforms

good luck fighting the left of your party with those. they’ll ask for your head too just like they did with Starmer

How about a reform that makes the Labour Party pay for these ridiculous by-elections

(As someone expecting to vote for labour myself)

King Charles should have brought in the electoral reform with his last speech. Got all these politicians on the noose. And said it was a fine experiment but it’s clearly failed. Democracy works fine when you do it like the Greeks done a jury service. When your called you must serve. But folk literally go to uni to be a career politician never been in the real world.

I agree with electoral reform but a huge change like that that would have to be put in a Manifesto at a GE

    10. Electoral reform needed but there is no way Labour will ever agree to this.

Tories as example got over 100+ seats past election before being rock bottom. Same would be said for Labour.

who wouldn’t be in favour of PR? does the common person really want/benefit from FPTP?

    12. I think we also need to reform the upper house and have an assembly like the US Senate where each region gets one or two representatives, perhaps based on administrative counties or their equivalent in Scotland. There’s far too much money and power concentrated around London, and there needs to be a counter-balance.

It’s also obviously less democratic than the House of Commons so couldn’t challenge the lower house;s primacy.

    13. *Burnham did not say when he would like to see these changes introduced or whether he would commit to starting the process if he becomes prime minster this year.*

No commitment to it, just words. Disappointing, but not unexpected.

    14. It’s a no-brainer for Labour. They’ll have all the data showing that a relatively small swing to Reform in 2029 will see them lose the election in spectular fashion.

The best way to counter the extremes of politics is to bring in PR and coalition politics which will always tend to favour centrist results.

    15. I wish I could post that meme of a guy riding a bike and then putting a stick in his front wheel.

The Labour party are allergic to success.

What’s laughable is that he isn’t even a MP and giving it all!
