    1. Correction: It’s not just to avoid paying taxes in the United States. It’s to avoid paying tax any jurisdiction whatsoever.

The world is witnessing the twilight of capitalism with his post and what’s happening thourghout much of the west.

    3. Well. Since it’s been proven that a President can just invade and bomb another country at whim, the next guy should do the Cayman Islands until the country agrees to raise its corporate tax rates commiserate with the rest of the developed world. What could go wrong!

    4. What would happen if that building suddenly burned down? Would they all have to scramble to figure out a new scheme?

Eh..this doesn’t really have a tax reason anymore, it’s mainly for the legal protections and regulatory structure

US corporations pay US tax on their global operations, regardless of where it gets reported at. And just because you have a registered office address at Ugland House doesn’t mean that any of your income gets apportioned there

    6. Remember when the Panama Papers were leaked and the entire world was expose to the rampant tax fraud being perpetrated by the rich and corporations and we all did exactly nothing?

Dumb question but how much “financial aid” the government’s of the world give to The Cayman to get them to change their tax laws? Instead of trying to get each billionaire to pay their fair share, why can’t we prevent them from hiding their money offshore?

    8. This is probably super old since the bird is still there in the screenshot.

    9. I’m sure there’s a two story building in Delaware with as many companies registered.

    10. Bernie Sanders here jumping to conclusions. It could very well be to avoid paying taxes in other countries too.

~2,600 of that is yachts that register in the Cayman Islands as a flag of convenience. They still have to pay exactly the same taxes as US flagged yachts if they are owned by americans, but they can do things like hiring chefs from the finest restaurants in europe, hiring engineers from the same countries that built the systems. and getting repairs wherever they need them instead of coming back to the US to get on a long waiting list for a tiny number of equipped yards.

This isn’t a loophole either. This was carefully crafted for exactly this purpose.
