Secrecy surrounds legal bid to block release of IBAC corruption report

*A secret party is trying to block the release of a report from Victoria’s corruption watchdog, which examined allegations involving the state government and firefighters.*

*In the Supreme Court on Friday, the party trying to halt the release of the report from the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) applied for a pseudonym order to prevent the public knowing their identity.*

*Lawyers for the party did not announce who their client was, and the judge, Clare Harris, said she would conduct sections of the hearing in open court “without disclosing any names”.*

*[…] Justice Harris said the secret party had raised concerns about the scope of the investigation and material in IBAC’s report.*

*The party’s barrister, Nick Wood SC, did not say exactly why his client was challenging the report’s release.*

*Journalists and media lawyers were ordered to leave the court, as IBAC’s legal team and Mr Wood argued whether a pseudonym order should be granted to protect his client’s identity.*

*Prominent media lawyer Justin Quill, representing outlets including the ABC, told the court he had not encountered a situation in three decades where he did not know the identity of a party in a case.*

Probably Jess Wilson blocking since they probably didn’t find enough dirt like the libs claim.
