      Italy with 4 titles is now on a streak of not qualifying 4 times in a row

    2. Missed opportunity to crop at an angle to more assertively exclude all the World Cup losers, or even use a rare map projection to do the same.

    3. I would like a new winner and someone not from South America or Europe to win it soon.

      I just cant believe italy has won four times but hasn’t qualified for 3 world cups now. Their manager also went on a weird rant about Asian teams qualifying for a world cup. This ain’t the Euros…

      What happened to them?

    5. FIFA has gone off the rails. To the point I would be pissed if we finally win this time. I hope the US games are such a popular and financial failure FIFA crumbles and has to be rebuild

    6. Fun fact:

      Brazil has won the most world titles across all “main” football categories, like 11×11, futsal / indoor, beach soccer, football 7, footvolley and even the newest random shit: ‘kings league’.

    7. All world cup winning nation belongs to a single unbroken chain of bordering countries, except for England

      Europe also deserves a few honourable mentions of countries that reached the final but failed to win.

      * Netherlands — runners-up in 1974, 1978, 2010
      * Hungary — runners-up in 1938, 1954
      * Czechoslovakia — runners-up in 1934, 1962
      * Sweden — runners-up in 1958
      * Croatia — runners-up in 2018

      If you count the channel tunnel as a land border, all world cup winners are connected by land.

    10. It’s actually insane that this competition has been around for almost 100 years but only 8 nations have managed to win it in all that time

      In all honesty, when Spain won the tournament it was something great to see.

      Prior to that you just knew of Football from Brazil or Argentina in South America. So it was brilliant to see it from the Spanish point-of-view.

      Continental dominance: All World Cup titles have been won by European (12 wins) and South American (10 wins) teams. The most successful team is Brazil, which has lifted the trophy five times.

      East Germany should only be coloured as 1, the other three times West Germany won.

    15. Because French Guiana is considered to be part of France, the world cup winners are all connected on the map.
