If you’re not going to ban disposable vapes the least you could do is have a deposit return scheme similar to the one for drinks.

    2. But they taxed liquids to high heavens. Good lord I fucking hate the Irish government, incapable of resolving any one single thing properly. Just ban them altogether you lazy fucks.

I’ve had the same vape for the last 4 years. But now I’m paying triple for juice for some reason. Glad it worked.

Probably shouldn’t have taxed the liquid to infinity so.

A once 15 euro bottle now costs 80+

    5. It’s scandalous. The batteries are the same materials in our phones and many other battery products. They are being used for single use. It’s a joke that all the government did is tax the liquids. Clowns

When I started vaping about 8 years ago a co-worker seemed irked about it. I didn’t get why really til he explained he’d seen kids at his kids’ school using the disposable. Once I showed him how a normal one works he was like “Well why the fuck are the disposables for sale!?” and I had no answer. They’re a ridiculous product and I hate admitting I’ve partaken, but they’re basically a separate product.

Would’ve been an easy ban years ago. Most vape shops wouldn’t have given a shit.
Instead they’ve doubled the price of juice, mostly affecting non-disposables and the people who actually use a vape to get off tobacco. Soon enough they’ll be banning flavours just to really drive it home. Dickheads.

It really is a weird feature of the Irish system that almost everything is done through increasing or decreasing tax.

Rather than address the issue of vapes, just add tax.

Rather than structurally reform the housing and planning system, just reduce VAT on new builds.

When was the last time we actually CHANGED something? Bringing in cost rental housing maybe?

Utterly ridiculous taxation decision. They should have banned disposable vapes and should not have added tax to liquids. That would have prevented younger users of vapes from being able to access a cheap entry point for the habit (most disposable users are comparatively young). Instead, they introduce a brain dead tax that has minimal impact on disposable vapes, but a huge impact on liquids.

So, we haven’t tackled the environmental damage of vaping, nor have we disincentivised young people from starting it. Instead, we have made it more expensive for older users who use rechargeable devices. Moronic.

Big tobacco managed to sell nicotine to the youth. That industry should have died. Literally.

    10. Thats fucking horrendous.. they’re so bloody addictive too. Was on em myself and had to just go cold turkey to get off them. The cravings lasted a good month. Horrible .

Probably one of the worst things that was ever invented
You see every young person with the disgusting vape hanging out of their mouth sucking on it .
And then fucked on the ground when finished with it .

Yeah fuck me. I’ve a vape mod for years with absolute hatred for the one use pieces of shit. Ans now the government are trying to make me pay 3x more for vape juice.

Do they want me throwing away lithium batteries? Do they want me to smoke again? Because now it’d be alot cheaper for me to smoke.

      Dumb fucks have no clue.

    13. it was completely predictable. the industry should have been buried at birth but has been allowed bed in…they’re an absolute pox

    14. We’ll be picking used lithium batteries out of hedges and urban river beds for decades, if not centuries…

    15. No shit. I don’t feel the Venn diagrams of ‘average vape enjoyer’ overlaps much with ‘gives a shit about the environment’.
