Women particularly affected by crack cocaine

Four in ten people seeking treatment for crack cocaine are women. Women are being particularly affected by this trend and more needs to be understood as to why this is.

Found this part interesting, surely it means the other six are men. Is it just unusual with cocaine compared to other drugs that a large percentage of users seeking help are women ?

For sure it’s way more rampant versus alcohol usage too, FT covered this months ago that Ireland is 3rd highest consumer per capita of coke in EU.

I’d say if you stopped 50% of people around South William you’d have a good chance of finding a bag.

I’d argue majority of people on it for a the odd night out are absolutely grand – some you wouldn’t notice.

If the housing crisis alone wasn’t bad enough, now there’s a shortage of cocaine?

It has gotten bad. I rarely go out anymore but I went to a 40th the other week. Walked into the pub, took one look around and it was so obvious that half the pub were on the bag. Eyeballs, teeth, so animated, loud, in and out of the toilets like yoyos, up and down from their seats constantly. I’ve taken it myself a few times but don’t see the appeal. It’s shit craic. Just makes you wanna talk and talk.

Live over the water these days, but was back in Mayo a few months back and was surprised to see just how many young ‘uns were coked off their tits.

I’ve been around folk on just about everything, but coke folk are the worst.

    6. Does anyone have a spreadsheet of all the crises? I’m starting to lose track.

Can’t remember who said it but cocaine is a dickheads drug. I’ve done it and yeah, what a dickhead

Ireland yayo gives me three days of running nose, no thank you. I guess I’ve some level of mild ADHD because all the uppers powder stuff get me into a more relaxed chill mood so can’t even use them as party drugs. I used to do ecstasy occasionally back in the days and the downers were horrible, totally not my thing.

I recently lost a young family member to a cocaine overdose. I would not wish this on any family.

Cocaine use is normalised to the point where people don’t realise the dangers – especially in how alcohol and cocaine interact in the body (forming Cocaethylene). If anyone reading this takes cocaine or is around people who do – please familiarise yourself with recognising the signs of a cocaine overdose and take action before it’s too late.

**Signs & Symptoms of Cocaine Overdose**
It’s important to note that someone who has overdosed purely on stimulants such as cocaine alone, is often still conscious.

Some of the signs and symptoms that a person may have overdosed on cocaine include:
      Overheating.
      Profuse sweating.
      Nausea or vomiting.
Rapid breathing and fast heart rate.
      Abnormal heart rhythm.
      Elevated blood pressure.
      Chest tightness or pain.
      Tremors and/or seizures.
      Confusion.
      Severe anxiety or panic.
      Irritability and mood swings.
      Hallucinations.
      Psychosis.

Around 2005ish me and my friend group did a lot of drugs. Pills mainly but balanced with a lot of coke too. It was always expensive and shite. I think the only real reason we didn’t get hooked on the shite was the cost and purity. It’s been a long time so I’m well out of the loop but I’d imagine it costs a lot less these days and I’d wager it’s a bit more pure. I feel for anyone hooked on it.

    12. Just six years free from the poison myself. It brought me to my knees. Literally lost everything. Luckily with a supporting family I’m back on track but fuck me the last year of using was the bottom of hell.

What I’ve noticed these days is the age of kids using. Talking secondary school kids. Kids already in the trap of not being able to go out and have fun without a bag. That’s the start of the slippy slope. I know they can get smaller bags now but fuck me where is the money coming from.

      All Mrs. Doyle’s fault.

Putting it in the cakes, been downhill ever since.

Never mind the sniff, the crack tents around town or proper on the increase, the coke has been popularised since the 90s when the price of a gram or an 8th came flying down due to the amount being brought in. Like when the bullshit American weed arrived 1st it was 125 for 3 grams now it’s 50 for 3 grams.

Its depressing that not using illegal and addictive drugs puts me in the minority IRL and on reddit
