The movie on this disaster is practically writing itself and it turns out it’s a slapstick comedy

    2. We should definitely encourage a highly contagious population to disperse themselves among the community rather than keeping them quarantined for the duration of the disease’s incubation period. /s

    3. That’s heartbreaking and terrifying. Attacking treatment tents during an Ebola outbreak isn’t just ignorance it’s a death sentence for entire communities. Fear and misinformation are spreading faster than the virus. Thats a disaster.

Stupid people everywhere. Not real different than the antivaxxers in America. Both caused real deaths and spread of disease

“Angry residents of a town at the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo attacked and burned a tent that was part of a health center…
No one was hurt in the attack, according to initial reports but as patients ran out to escape the fire, 18 people with suspected Ebola infections left the facility and are now unaccounted for…
A communal burial for Ebola patients in Rwampara took place on Saturday under tight security as tensions between health workers and the local community ran high…
The World Health Organization has said that the outbreak now poses a “very high” risk for Congo — up from a previous categorization of “high” — but that the risk of the disease spreading globally remains low.”

I believe survival of the fittest is not just a platitude but the rule for all species on Earth, fitness has various categories including physique and intelligence; if you have a community full of morons then they are unlikely to survive in dangerous circumstances that call for co-operation and problem solving. I think they are fucked and I wish the members of the DWB organisation can get out of Congo safely. What are you suppose to do when people who are dying from rare Ebola disease villainise you and refuse charity. You pack up and say good luck.

These are country people with zero education. They are reactionary to how they have been raised… how is this a surprise?? Want more craziness?? Check out rural India.

The destruction of USAID is having a devastating impact on this outbreak right now. In past Ebola outbreaks, USAID helped with distribution of protective gear, contact tracing, transporting lab samples, training health care workers, and on and on.

Just pull out of the area and let natural selection run its course then

    10. Escape? So someone was attempting to kill them as opposed to got out of a flaming tent. Wow crazy ass headline.

    11. These people are actively trying to make it worse. There is no excuse for this shit.

    12. If someone doesn’t want treatment, let it sort itself out in 3-5 business days? Grim but they literally don’t want treatment

Quarantine the Congo. Close its airspace and access to the ocean. Cancel all visa requests from the Congo and make volunteers from the US stay in the Congo until this nonsense is resolved

    14. Dulles airport is now monitoring passengers from international flights. I’m going to be trained at work in case a rule out patient is sent to us.

    15. Oh, if people in general didn’t work against science. How much easier things would be. How much energy and resources and money we could utilize elsewhere.

Please, everyone; do better, do good.

I know this is nuts, but people in America took Ivermectin to cure Covid. Lack of education and misinformation can affect people everywhere.

    17. Is Ebola the virus where the main symptom is to head straight to the airport?

    18. LamentableCroissant on

I’d say that those lighting the tents should be executed on the spot. No questions, just bullets. A global Ebola epidemic would be infinitely worse than covid.

Just ban them from entering our countries and leave them to their superstitious nonsense

    20. Just close the entire place off. Ffs they are gonna kill half of humanity if they don’t get this handled.

This will sound remarkably mean, but this feels lark Darwinism on a massive scale. And it’s not necessarily because they’re dumb. It’s just traditions aren’t cooperating with how containment works, and it’s going to get way worse for everyone.
