    1. How would that push back against one nation? We already have a left leaning minor party, it’s call the Greens.

      >Senator David Pocock has left the door open to forming a party of independents

They wouldn’t be very independent if they were in a party, would they?

Independents are great because they can advance their causes without being beholden to party discipline or the need to build an election-winning majority. Trying to become the government is a lot more constraining. I’d prefer Pocock to stay as an Independent.

Cannot see why he would bother. He is far more effective doing what he does as He stands right now.

Would be cool to see independents set up less parties and more co-ops. Don’t run under a brand, but pool knowledge and resources, build common places for comms and community action that spans more than a single seat.

We need a bigger crossbench. We need a crossbench big enough to deny any party a majority. Ideally to deny every party a majority.

Honestly ABC, asking someone like Pocock to rule something like that in or out is such a rubbish question. Spawned purely from ‘give them a rope to hang themselves by’ gutter political journalism which has nothing to do with substance and everything to do with a headline.

For politics to be better in this country, so does journalism.

I usually quite like David Spears, but I hated this interview. Felt like he was really trying make him look dumb or uninformed. Pocock has always been about starting conversations about things that actually matter, that often get swept away in partisan shit fuckery. Further to that he has incredibly limited staff, it’s not like he has the capacity to run complex analysis on everything he wishes to talk about.

    8. Please do it mate, Australia needs it urgently! You hear new parties winning things all over the world except Australia and America. Hopefully if he does we will no longer be in that category. Demographics have changed!

    9. Just join the Greens and be done with it David, I mean they have been pushing for what you are talking about for years now.

If he starts his own party, I will sign up, donate, volunteer in whatever way I can.

    11. Bizarre headline. David Pocock already has a party registered (until now it’s just been to have something printed on the ballot next to the box above the line).

    12. Go for it mate! I will support people like you here in WA. I vote Greens but they entangle themselves. A progressive Party is welcome.
