      I don’t remember snails being a popular food item in Turkey. I’d have to look up whether they are halal or haraam, no shade. They also export a lot of their own snails IIRC.

      ETA: there seem to be several conflicting scholarly opinions on the halalness or haraamity of snails.

      So they’re not as famous as khachapuri but snails have a place in traditional Georgian cuisine. Didn’t know that.

      Just yesterday I was walking home and saw like 15 snails around one of those plywood walls around a construction site
