    1. Pretty sure the point is to get people to self deport then deny their application. Of course its fucked.

The point is to make them leave or arrest them. I doubt they will have an easy time trying to get back in

Trump loves the act of moving the goalposts on people who aren’t sexist, racist white males.. He has been guilty of abusing kids since he started milking his daddy’s businesses to cover-up his fuckups in the 80s. Just like his daddy he is just a greedy scam artist with abusive tendencies.

    4. I’m sure they all have the money and passports for international travel… smh

So family separation is an INTENTIONAL policy goal of the Trump administration.

Not to mention, in language that conservatives might understand, the sheer financial and economic cost of this operation and the strain it puts on the state and labor department, and even American businesses and employers.

It’s the same story over and over again. The Trump administration tries to frame its disastrous and intentionally punishing policies as cost cutting, but the financial logic actually runs the opposite direction.

    6. Many people are offered jobs (say, right after grad school) with the promise from the hiring company that they will get them their green card due to their specialized skills. Meanwhile they work on a temporary work permit.

There are country-wise per-year numerical limits on most work related permanent residency visa categories. So, depending on their country of birth, they will wait years, even decades, for their green card. Meanwhile, they establish roots here—children, house/mortgage, softball team. And so on. This rule requires that they uproot all that, go back to the home country, and wait out the years. No one will go for that. I mean, imagine a cardiologist completing their residency at Johns Hopkins — suddenly they are supposed to pack up and leave for an indeterminate time?

      Here’s a related story: [https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/26/health/trump-h1b-visa-fee-doctors.html?smid=url-share](https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/26/health/trump-h1b-visa-fee-doctors.html?smid=url-share)

    7. So without trying to rationalise anything this regime does, don’t many other western countries already do this? I know in the UK there are visas you cannot file for from within the UK and foreign nationals in the US (say on H1B visas) have to return to their country to renew them.

Again, not defending the move, but these days I’ve only got so much outrage to go around and I’d like to keep it focused on, say, getting the Epstein files released.

I’m sure there will be exceptions for white South Africans and Russians.

    9. I have a friend waiting in line to get a K-1 visa. That visa is explicitly for coming to the US, getting married and then doing a change of status to get a green. What happens to them now? Is there no point to K-1 visas anymore?

south and southeast asian adore trump for some reason, and they are the largest GC applicant pools.

this leopard will probably need GLP1 to lose weight now

This would simply decimate the tech sector, I’m guessing this gets walked back.

    12. This should reduce the temperature in the US.,White people reflect more light.

    13. No impact to H1B, L1 and other work visa types. They may be an impact for F1 but they will convert to H1.
It’s impossible to stop them. The Indian Consulting giants control the US companies. the jobs are already being offshored. You are cooked either ways!
MAGA has no clue. They need to hire a H1B specialized workers to understand the process!

    14. Does his administration not understand taxes at all and how much this is going to hurt the US. At this point states should stop sending money to the government so they have the money to take care of what they need to take care of in their own state government and not rely on the federal government anymore.

The lawsuits are going to start immediately as Trump doesn’t have the authority to do this on his own.

Two of my good friends (theyre brothers) are from Guatemala, hardest workers you will ever meet. Nicest guys ever too.

This is insane. Id better not lose my friends and their families. His little girl comes to our work sometimes, same age as my daughter.

    17. Or maybe stay home and apply elsewhere, where they’ll be appreciated.

No worries, we have Ai to take their hundreds of thousands of jobs and pay all the taxes they would have generated, cars they would have bought, rent and mortgages they would have paid, etc… all for free! /s

What are the odds that legal challenges, once they reach SCOTUS – which at least one of them will – will succeed?

It’s deportation in all but name.

    20. Hi, doctor here. I work in an undeserved area which is largely staffed by physicians on the visa waiver program who ultimately apply for green cards and continue to work in the area. If this were to go into effect you would have entire subregions of the country that are quite literally dependent on foreign-born US-trained physicians suddenly lose access to medical care. These are areas that are unable to offer competitive salaries (whether due to lack of funds or just generally unappealing places to live) and as a result have a permanent shortage of doctors, nurses, techs, etc.

It’s sad for them and us losing talent. I am not sad for the companies paid money and kissed the ring.

There is a silver lining I see. These Indians green card holders (most of them) are Trump supporters. They can’t vote. But sure they liked him.

    22. So does this affect those who already have a green card they need to renew?

Ripping families apart with this mess and the threat to denaturalize on unseen levels while and shredding what little reputation this country still had, I give you the party of small government and freedom everyone.
