    1. What Happened?

The previous leader of CHP and the opposition’s candidate in the 2023 elections, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, was assigned to his previous position with the police and goverment’s support after the court has decided to impeach current leader of the party, Özgür Özel, with an “Absolute Nullity” for the last in-party elections to choose the leader which Kılıçdaroğlu lost to Özel.

Kılıçdaroğlu is backed by the police and far-right ultranationalist groups such as Grey Wolves and he aims to freeze the party memberships of the mayors jailed by the goverment until their “investigations” concludes, including CHP’s official candidate for the 2028 elections and Istanbul’s mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu

    2. Looks like they should have helped and fought alongside that coup a few years ago.

    3. Turkey is officially a hard dictatorship. In terms of democracy they are functionally no different to Russia.
