Lol. Yeah I don’t have sympathy for people near 70 who have lived here in some cases nearly 50 years but never bothered to learn the language. And “Oh I know my Japanese sucks but the reason my husband knows none is just his personality not letting him learn.” No ma’am, you and your husband chose never to learn to interact in the country you chose to move to.

I’d feel the same if you were in any country that spoke any language that wasn’t the one you learned from birth.

Plus choosing to not pay into mandatory social services that help all then being like “But why doesn’t it help me???”

It’s not just aging foreign workers it’s active younger foreigner workers too. You have to be some type of nutcase to want to spend your most productive years working for such low salaries in Japan.
