      He won’t be forgotten

Fought for a better future not only for himself but for other MND diagnosed people aswell. Hopefully we find a cure one day.

    3. Damn, he fought like hell, hopefully his legacy is more funding for research for a cure

      Vale.

I saw his family on the news last week say he wasnt doing well, so half expected this news. Such an awful disease.Β

      RIP

Fought a very long battle with an illness that claims most in a much shorter timeframe and used his fame for the best purpose there is, fighting for others

State funeral incoming. If one guy deserves one, it’s him.

He fought like bloody hell and became a true champion in the fight against MND.

      This is so sad.

    7. Unforgettable. He’s one of our all time greats of this state and that has nothing to do with footy.

Hope he gets a state funeral and a statue at the G.

Really sad news. Can’t believe he fought it for 13 years. A lot of people rightly say ‘fuck cancer’ but i don’t see more people saying ‘fuck neurological diseases’.

I really hope the Pies and Demons players honour Neale and put on an absolute classic when they do the big freeze match in two weeks.

    9. Absolute champion. Did everything he could and fought for so long. The next Freeze is gonna be bittersweet

    10. RIP, mate. What a stellar human, we can only hope to be as much of a legend as him.

That poor, brave, trooper. The world is forever a better place thanks to your work. Rest in peace.

    12. Neale Daniher was a true inspiration to Australians everywhere. The courage and dignity with which he faced the beast that is MND will never be forgotten. Though the disease has finally claimed his life, the example he set β€” through his strength, humility, and determination β€” made us all better, both individually and as a community.

His bravery and the unwavering courage of his family beside him touched countless lives and brought greater awareness, compassion, and hope to so many.

My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who loved him. Neale may be gone, but his legacy will endure for generations. Vale, Neale.

Vale, Neale. Your work will not be forgotten. You were a great man.

    14. Rest in peace legend. Not many players leave a bigger legacy off the field than on, but Neale is certainly one of them and I say this with utmost admiration for a champion of our game.

Great man, my deepest condolences to the Daniher family. Rest in peace Neale.

    16. MND is such a horiffic disease. My mother in law’s going through it right now and it literally robs you of everything before it kills you, and it does it excruciatingly slowly. It gradually paralyses you over a period of years, makes it impossible to be fed without choking, takes your ability to talk or communicate at all, and then makes you struggle for every single breath before you finally choke to death. It’s just monstrous.

It’s an incredibly strong argument for VAD (Voluntary Assisted Dying). No-one should suffer like that.

    17. So sad to hear. RIP Neale, respect, what a fighter. Battleling on year after year.
