Woe is me, she got a 400k a year job and now has a taxpayer fund to walk around and look pretty at engagements for the rest of her life.

The level of entitlement from this caucus can be mind boggling at times. It’s one of the most highly paid positions in public office and you’re expected to be bilingual (EN/FR).. you’re not just a CATSA worker at the airport giving out hello bonjours!

If she didn’t meet the minimum qualifications for the job and got hired anyway it’s usually the hiring manager that’s responsible. Nobody should be shamed for getting that bag (edit: in the absence of fraud, if that even needs to be said).

The criticisms were completely fair and reasonable. She was the epitome of DEI hires and couldn’t meet the very basic requirement of the job which was being able to communicate with Canadians in both official languages. No other individual would have been given this role under that language barrier if they weren’t a representative of the First Nations.

On the contrary they were completely fair. There were many people more qualified than her. That said it’s not her fault, if anyone was asked to be GG you’d say yes. It is still valid though to criticize the pick for that reason.

You had five years Mary. Insane that such a distinguished and accomplished woman feels fine to wrangle such a pathetic excuse for a basic requirement for such an important distinction.
Kind of disgraceful.

Having a personal dedicated tutor should have resulted in her becoming bilingual. For some reason we don’t know how to teach languages in this country and haven’t changed our approach in 50 years. Don’t focus on the complex rules for passé compose and imparfait. Teach me the way infants learn languages.

I’m totally fine with it and id be fine with it if she knew French but not English. She knows a language that has been here longer than either of them.
And honestly given the way Quebec feels about the Crown and just about everything connected to it it’s a waste of time and effort to try to appease them on it.

Ah you see it’s unfair to critique the King’s representative in Canada for not speaking French because …. she doesn’t speak French.
