      wonder if she’s distancing herself from the shenanigans now so that she has a cleaner slate to run for the cpc in a few years

      Doug suffers from that common situation whereby competent people leave, and incompetent people stay until they are physically turfed out.

      In a nod to family tradition, Mulroney’s resignation letter was submitted in a brown envelope and placed in Doug Ford’s personal safe.

      It’s a toss-up as to whether her retirement from “elected life” means only lucrative board directorships, or also parachuting into the next CPC leadership competition.

      I suspect that she would win the latter. Probably the best tactic for Conservatives to meaningfully compete with the LPC.

      Had Caroline not run for the leadership, Christine Elliott would have been the leader of the OPC, and the next Premier, and we would have a different OPC and a different government style.
      Caroline had no chance of winning in 2017, yet dragged 20% of the away from Elliott.
      I have not idea why she did that, but have not forgotten it.
