The routing question matters more than people realize. Kaliningrad is 800-plus kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory. If these drones came from Ukraine proper, they either went north through Belarus or looped out over the Baltic both raise serious questions about detection and interception that nobody seems to have good answers for yet.
We’ve been tracking Ukrainian deep strike range creep at panopsik.com for months, but this is a different order of magnitude from hitting Moscow or even St. Petersburg. The fuel load alone implies either a much larger platform than what’s been hitting Russian refineries, or external support somewhere along the route.
Kaliningrad’s also been untouched until now despite being a major military logistics node. The timing suggests either a capability that just came online or a deliberate decision to expand the target set. Either way, if confirmed, it’s not just another drone strike it’s Ukraine demonstrating reach into territory that Russia assumed was safely distant.

That raises the interesting question if Poland or Lithuania have opened their air space for Ukrainian drones.
