Hi, I’m Matt Adams, I'm a retired army lawyer from Middlesex County, NJ, and I’m running for Congress in New Jersey’s 12th District in the Democratic Primary.
For too long, the House of Representatives has fought for corporate interests, rather than fighting for the people they are supposed to represent.
I am running to restore the balance of power between the executive and legislative branches, regulate harmful AI data centers, and fight for our taxpayer dollars to go back to the American people, not corporate tax breaks or illegal overseas wars. I do not take any PAC money. Where tyranny ends, affordability begins.
The Primary is on June 2nd, I hope to see you there! Learn more at https://www.mattadamsforcongress.com

You don’t take PAC money, ok. Have you actually been offered any?
What do you think of adding more seats to congress?
You’re good on ICE, but how do you view Israel’s recent actions in Gaza? Lebanon? Do you support a full separation? An embargo? Sanctions? This question is important for even local politicians at this point, even more so after another primary spending record was broken against Massie.
Why does it take millions of dollars for you (or anyone) to run for congress?
You mentioned affordability in your post introduction. How do you think about the federal government’s role in addressing housing affordability? Do you think that it is a good idea for the federal government to encourage – or even require – states and localities to liberalize their zoning policies to encourage more multi-family housing developments in more places?
Why have Trump and his cronies been allowed to get away with blatant corruption and self-enrichment? When he pardons himself, his family, and his cronies will they all get away free and very rich? Will the US ever recover from the actions of this administration? Will the US ever regain the trust of the countries who had previously regarded the US as their ally?
How much more should rich pay in taxes? How are you going to fix the loan loop hole?
How much AIPAC money have you taken?
Thanks to everyone who joined this AMA! These were really great questions, and I appreciate everyone’s engagement. I will answer all other questions tomorrow.
I believe in honesty and integrity as two of my driving principles. I want to be able to put my head on my pillow when I go to bed at night, knowing I did my best with honor and integrity. I will not compromise on those principles – that is certainly driven by my military background, but also by my upbringing.
Did you know I am running a 5K in each of the 32 towns in NJ-12, and you can join me? I pick a park, map a 3.1-mile neighborhood run from the park, and video sites and make comments along the way. You can see some of these on my Instagram and Facebook pages. I am actually done with 22 of them, so 10 left. I am getting to know this District better than any of the other candidates – and it’s not even close. The schedule is on our website and social media.
I hope I answered your questions sufficiently. I feel like I did my best. The Primary is on June 2nd, and early voting just started today! Please consider me when voting – Thank you!
What do you think about the widespread conspiracies against constitutional rights being perpetrated by the executive branch and departments under its control?
So it looks like with a retiring incumbent, you have the misfortune of being in a packed primary. Seven days to go and your race is at twelve people. So you don’t really need to convince me of anything since I live neither in your district nor in your state, but I’ll ask the question that your would-be constituents need the answer to anyway. What do you bring to the table that the other eleven running in your primary next week do not? Or rather, what failings do they have that make you the better candidate?
What does the most of the money raised for a campaign get spent on?
