I recently moved to berlin and found an apartment via a real estate agency who also manage the apartment. We have faced few issues from the beginning but nothing unmanageable. The repair team employed by the agency came and fixed a few things after the 1st four weeks including the kitchen sink and the water heater underneath.
Once that was done we noticed on the next day that the dishwasher stopped working and there was a continuous water leak under the kitchen platform resulting in wet wood.

We right away informed the agency that this was the issue but they have not been able to schedule an appointment for more than 3 weeks now. Since yesterday, we are noticing a pool of water on the wooden kitchen floor which is making the wet wood situation even worse. On top of this, due to the leak we have stopped using the kitchen tap for a while now and this has made the situation quite unsustainable.

We signed a 6month contract for this apartment and are now confused as to what to do next and how to protect ourselves in case the wood damage is permanent. Any advice on what needs to be done ??

    1. Continue pestering the agency daily, both per phone and via E-Mail. Send them pictures of the damages, include “URGENT” in the subject line. Explain that lasting damage could occur should the agency continue to ignore the problem.

      This should cover your liability.

You could also set an ultimatum and threaten with a lawyer and a “Mietminderung”.
