_William R. Trotter’s A Frozen Hell: The Russo-Finnish Winter War of 1939–1940 (2000; revised edition of The Winter War, originally published in 1991)_

One of the most widely recommended English-language books on the Winter War. It explains how Finland resisted a much larger Soviet invasion force through skillful tactics, determination, and effective use of terrain and winter conditions.

Although Finland lost territory, it preserved its independence and earned international respect and disgraced the red army.

The book highly readable and well-researched, making it a popular introduction to the conflict.

    3. Les Guerriers de l’hiver by Olivier Norek in French. A well documented book.
