Good school family! Today, after the second lesson, students have been sent home due to a bomb threat to schools and institutions. Sincerely, Tallinn Õismäe Gymnaasium,” wrote, for example, from one school.

Pirko Pärila, the operations manager of the Northern Prefecture, told Delf that the threats came this morning around 9 o’clock. In total, threats were sent to 84 institutions, including several schools and kindergartens. “We are dealing with e-mails whose purpose is to disrupt the work of institutions and to sow fear and panic. The real threat level has not increased and schools and institutions can continue with their normal work,” said Pärila.

“The first information reached the police from the Jakob Westholm Gymnasium through the alarm center at around 09:35. We immediately started analyzing the e-mail to see if it was intimidation or a serious plan. We have now determined that it is a mass e-mail with the aim of scaring people. We see common features with the waves of bomb threats that have been repeatedly sent to schools in the last couple of years,” he explained.

    1. In October of 2017, several schools received a threat letter in Russian, stating that there was a bomb in the building. Apart from schools, other institutions, such as Tallinn Airport and several municipalities, received a similar letter.

Pärila noted that the police have already sent instructions for behavior to schools and kindergartens. All bomb threats received via e-mail must be forwarded [masskiri@politsei.ee](mailto:masskiri@politsei.ee). “We look at each case separately and, if necessary, reassess the threat. The police have not yet identified a real threat,” said Pärila.

“In order to create a sense of security, we are out more than usual in the vicinity of schools today. This is so that the school staff, children and parents know that we are there for them if necessary and ready to react. The most important thing is that the staff monitor their premises and pay attention to suspicious things,” said Pärila.

Call 112 if you find a suspicious object or detect another threat.

    1. Ehk siis 84 asutusel on e-maili spämmifilter valesti seadistatud… Kurb.
Võib üsna kindel olla, et neid spämmkirju saadeti sadadele või tuhandetele asutustele, aga enamusel läks ilusti spämmi hulka.

    2. Keegi sibulamaale sama ei taha korraldada? Igapäevaselt näiteks? Teha restodesse broneeringuid, avalikele asutustele päringuid kuhu on vaja inimvastust, jms.
