Hi all,

I received yesterday via Doccle this fine…the problem is that I live in Wallonia, far away from Antwerpen (5060 Sambreville)🥲

How is it possible ? My plate has not been stolen, and I was of course not there last Saturday at 16:50 (I was more occupied to manage the floods in my house…)

How can I prove to them that I wasn’t there? Will they believes me? Should I ask the officer for photographic evidence?

    Thanks a lot !

Take contact. Explain what you say here. Ask for the evidence.
Either they will provide a foto or realise their mistake while checking themselves.

They tell you how to object to the fine and the timeframe you have for it. Your best bet is to try and explain and see where you get with that.

They need to provide evidence I assume? Either way, protest the fine via the link on the letter.

    4. Something similar happened to my grandmother. She received a fine at the sea in a BMW X5.

My grandmother didn’t have a BMW X5 nor was she at the sea around that area. So she went to the police and what they suspected is that someone was driving around with an illegal numberplate.

I’d go to the police and try to get them to look into it. If it really wasn’t you that got the fine in Antwerp

If i can give you a small hint: if you dont cover the entire QR code, it can still be read/reconstructed fairly easy.

In this case no biggy since it leads you to a payment site, but be carefull when posting this online. If you do, put an enitre box over it.

Source if you’d like to know more.[source](https://astorfi.github.io/QR_Code/)

    6. Go to the website on the note (parkeerportaal) and check the fine. I’ve received fines like this in the past.
Parking enforcement is capable of making mistakes.

As long as you file the objection within the next 30 days, you should be good.

Worst case, somebody copied your plate and put it on their own car, but if that’s the case, you can file charges with your local police. This is highly unlikely.
Probably the enforcement fat fingered the license plate. They always take pictures of the offending vehicle for when an objection is filed and will provide them to you when you open a case.

Looks like Antwerp is in need of money. I also received a fine recently for a “violation” I didn’t do with my car.

Thanks all ! I will contest and ask for the picture…I’m very curious to see it 😄

    9. Once happened to me too. Received a fine for parking without paying in Ronse while i was far from there working.
Contacted them and received an answer with the photo of the offence: wrong numberplate, wrong car, wrong color… They should at least check the car and color are matching if they search form your adress in the database.

    10. Contact their customer care or use the link to object to the fine. You can explain them your situation. Ask them to provide pictures of the offense. This could be a case of ‘numberplate was inputted wrongly or incorrectly scanned using numerplate recognition’. They should be able to look up the details of your car, and verify the make and brand. If it doesn’t match their evidence, they will dismiss the fine.

    11. My husband has had exactly the same problem since December. In the meantime, he has already received five parking charges (retributie), so these are not fines.

Contact the City of Antwerp and explain everything. They can check which vehicle is linked to the licence plate and whether it matches the vehicle shown in their photo.

Also file a report with the police, as the parking company may ask for a copy of this report.

Make sure to do both, because filing a police report does not exempt you from paying the parking charge.

Happened to me couple years ago when i had a Peugeot Leasing, fined for parking in Brussels when i never went to Brussels with the license plate in question.

Phone them, tell them there is an error and that you’ve never went anywhere near there with your car, their staffer probably entered the plate wrong and you got caught in the middle.

We’ve had The same problem with one of our vans at work. Luckily, we have a gps tracker to prove this wasn’t us and it turned out to be a totally different vehicle as well.

    14. Happened to me once too. it was my license plate but the brand, model and color of the car mentioned was not mine. So I contacted them and it turned out the person that wrote the ticket accidentally changed one number in the license plate when writing it down (he wrote 1-abc-124 instead of 1-abc-123). By the time I contacted them they had already realized the mistake themselves and apologized for the misunderstanding. So just contact them and I’m sure they will sort it out.

    15. I had the same problem with a clown in Aalst driving a car like my model, same make, model and color that copied my license plate, but the police realized it before they start sending that kind of shit to me. Instead the local police provided me with paper(s) to carry with me in case I’m being pulled over and prove I wasn’t the one collecting those fines.

In your case I would suggest legal aid (aide juridique) from your car insurance in this case. If you can prove that you were on that date elsewhere, like at work, then it would be near impossible that you are guilty.

Plate duplicatef perhaps. Client of mine had the same. She hasn’t left the province since last year and she got a fine in Genk..

Bij mijn vader al 2x gebeurd met dezelfde persoon. Na meerdere telefoons en papierwerk kwam uit dat ze zich hadden vergist. De persoon in kwestie had een O in nummerplaat terwijl mijn pa een Q had 🤣

Even partial qr’s can easely be recontructed. Please hide it completely.

    19. A friend had the same problem, speeding ticket in Antwerp while she lives in Walloon Brabant and was at work that day in the same region, so she had people and traces to prove it wasn’t her. I don’t remember the details of the whole story but she went as far as to involve a lawyer to contest the fine but eventually she still had to pay it. Something about the police agent word against hers.

      Pretty rage-inducing story tbh.
