I mean Chatswood Chase is great (especially the food options) but your pictures make it look like an abandoned airport

Damn crazy it looks like every other mall ever !

I was there a few weeks ago, and every single level except for the food court was pretty much empty. At one point I literally wondered if I’d managed to get into part of the centre that I wasn’t supposed to. It was like a ghost town.

Apart from some different shops, what’s different?? Shiny cream floor tiles, neutral walls and some not-in-your-face lighting

I miss Chatswood Chase circa 2012 when it had Toymate, Dick Smith and JB Hi-Fi.

More luxury boutiques rather than places most people shop at more frequently, a food court with more expensive individualised fitout but with matching prices. Yeah I guess it’s alright, but I don’t see what was wrong with the old one to be worth the reno that probably lasted over a year..

Peak chatswood chase was the velvet red carpet era circa turn of the century. Everything went downhill after that.

That’s what $625million dollars of renovations gets you…

The top floors are quite dull with the expected luxury stores but the basement has some excellent delis, Vics meats, Astakos fish and so on. That part is great.

Did the renovation accidentally give it a sterile, bland abandoned hospital ward look or was that intentional?

Too similar to the westfield next door and felt redundant I guess.

forever screw the Chase for not allowing the old Donut King franchise to stay with the redesign and now essentially replaced with that Boston abomination

The food court is awesome, full marks. But with the cost of living crisis the majority of us are living through, I found all the high end boutiques kind of vulgar

I often walk through there and the food court gets friggin packed. Which is saying something cause Chatswood has a ton of food places that are also cheap.
As for the top areas… Eh. There’s not a lot of interesting stores. (To me at least, but it never looks that busy either)
I’d say it would be nicer with more hobby shops and whatnot, but the closest thing is an arcade-y type place they’re opening across the road from it.

The Korean deli on the food court level is excellent.

It even smells like luxury there. The fruit shops is great!

It’s disorientating at the moment. Every 15 years, I have to learn a new layout and I’m getting too old for change.
But also, the new food court is amazing. 10/10, they listened to our feedback.

Have they rebuilt that place *again*?

ehhh, it’s not that great after the reno. The fitout has the appearance of being a polished high end finish, but closer inspection you realize it’s kind of an illusion and it’s actually a bit of a cheap representation of high-end.
The downstairs layout is a nightmare when it gets busy, all the pillars, floor stores and seating arrangements etc funnel foot traffic all over the place and people just end up awkwardly trying to dodge each other.
Still prefer westfield I think.

It’s a nice renovation, but they lost a lot of good stores (since replaced with high-end brands) to make it happen which is a shame.
