Pretty wild that I was actually arguing a couple of days ago who said “Muslims people don’t follow/respect British culture”, and cited their objection to LGBTQ people as evidence of this.
Obviously I let them run with the idea that **all** Muslims are anti-LGBTQ, for the sake of argument, but this event alone would be enough to essentially destroy that perception.
Hopefully it goes well. It’s good to see Muslims who are accepting of LGBT+/are LGBT+ themselves.
Muslims accepting LGBT people makes as much sense as Christians accepting LGBT people, which many do.
But obviously all LGBT people have to hate all Muslims, according to this sub!
Good, while still fringe, this is the interpretation that should, and hopefully will one day be, what is considered “mainstream” Islam in the UK and West.
I’m sure this will draw some negativity, but as someone who has gay Muslim friends I’m so glad for events like this! Muslims nor gay people are not a homogenous group
Quite sad it’s a closed door event because they’re scared of people taking photographs and being identified. LGBT and more liberal Muslims need our full support.

These are the muslims we need to support, back and help every day we can. Wonderful people standing against milennia of evil. Christians had to go through this too in the 1800s, I know Islam can get the eventually but only with our help.
We cannot let these people feel we are turning our backs on them.
The Muslim population has 3x the rate of trans people as those with no religion, yet one quarter the rate of LGB people. 🤔
People think all Muslims are anti-LGBTQ, there’s like billions of us on the planet for God’s sake. There’s a notable group of us who are fine with the LGBTQ community and there’s also those who aren’t, yet plenty who drink alcohol and do what not.
Really and truly speaking, I never understood LGBTQ, pronouns and what not but I don’t feel the need to preach to these people what’s right and wrong, just live and enjoy life.
But this sub has assured me no Muslims assimilate!?!? /s
it’s a step in the right direction towards the voice of moderate and liberal Islam being heard for sure…
after all, Christianity can be very conservative also and it has taken decades of less conservative voices being heard to get us to where we are now…
(and for just now let’s celebrate this little win and not think of the horror show that is the growing political power of the Christian political right in the USA)
It’s probably going to recieve a name and be treated as what amounts to heresy from a faith that is overwhelmingly unified and very, very, very clear that deviation doesn’t make you a Muslim anymore.
These guys have got guts for taking part in this and I respect them and the cause , but jeez I hope this event is policed to the hilt.
The best part is, we can all do this because Democracy and the Law are far better foundations for any society. (Don’t forget to vote folks!).
Whilst as a gay man it’s nice to see this, this is still a minority that is likely going to be attacked by their own community for this. The disgusting ideology that is Islam is crystal clear on these things and forbids any such reinterpretations. They may as well be calling themselves ex-muslims by doing this.
I want to ask which Muslims major country are accept LGBT+ ?
Why we strictly request every christians country accept LGBT+. As like muslims need British become anti-semitic because jew is common enemy of muslims, why not those muslims go to their original country and request their government for accept LGBT+ but just in an safe country said something comfort for local people.
You need to see what they do went they have more power or majority that you, rather that just talk.
What better wah of gathering intel on those you hate then getting them to lock themselves up jn room together.Areligion that harasses people into hiding for simply dropping a book doesn’t do progressive moves like this. Realistically It’s either kill list intel gathering or a .p.r. exercise to shore up Hamas’s college idiot support base like in the .U.S..
The organisers maybe genuine but that won’t stop others from abusing it.
